Agreed. Hell, Under those circumstances I would have asked for a police escort. More importantly, SB, how is you daughter today?
My daughter did very well from that 2006 surgery. She had a second double lung transplant in Houston in 2013 at the age of 21 which I was fortunate enough to already be down there that time. Unfortunately, diabetes and kidney failure finally took her in 2017. She had Cystic Fibrosis and battled her entire life. She was one helluva warrior and went through more than most people can even imagine. I'm still thankful to God for the 25 years he gave us with her. I just think the foolishness of trying something like the OP is proposing is not smart and could end very tragically for no real reason or purpose.

God bless you my friend I was truly hoping for a good outcome. As a parent my eyes welled up when I read this response & I had to take 5 minutes at the office to recompose myself. But I thank you for sharing it with us.

So sorry that you lost your daughter. Losing my Dad was tough. Can’t imagine losing a child.

You need to rethink everything. You need a co pilot/spotter. You need a second fuel cell in the trunk. You can't get 16MPG doing this. You will most likely get stopped and or arrested/Impounded.

No way you can even average over 100 MPH with 10 fuel stops.Doug Tabbutt and Arne Toman just broke the record with like only 3 stops. They still had to make sprints up to 170ish MPH to get their average just over 100 MPH. You would need way more fuel to cut fuel stops down, and without more sets of eyes (human and electronic) It really is fairly impossible to do what you're talking about. you definitely need to do more research. records are made to be broken, and I hope you give it a try. I just really hope you do it intelligently.
Good luck,
If I did make an attempt I want a predator drone. However, I won't be making an attempt. Dream crushed. At least it was crushed on here and not on the road.

Nah, you just need to make a call to Mena Airport and Barry Seal's buddies. The ex-guv and friends will hook you right up with the requisite "hardware". :)
(ed. sorry, watched American Made last night)

I'm guessing many of us have radar detectors.
I just got a max360 radar detector, and wanted to ask Ztang owners with detectors:
where did you mount it for the front and rear radar cameras to "See"?
On dash?
On windshield by mirror?
Somewhere between?

Lots of good advice not to do this on here. But I just want to add a thought that I hope will permanently dissuade you. While a fast car is certainly important for being the fastest through a given course, the driver is by far the most important component. A study I read awhile back tracked the eye movement of professional race car drivers and compared it to the eye movement of a normal person. The professional drivers studied focused on a given point for less than half a second at a time. The normal people took more than 3 seconds on average. The importance of this is that a pro driver needs less than a second to properly process information from his sight and you will need more than three seconds to do the same. Pro drivers keep them selves in peak physical condition To with stand the rigors of driving at those speeds and the forces put upon them through turns, acceleration and deceleration. They also have far more experience than the average driver at handling there vehicles under the pressures of speed. Even with all that and under the controlled conditions of a track they get beat to hell and make mistakes that sometimes result in dramatic crashes. Do you really think that you are prepared to do what you propose?

Not trying to crap on you’re dream but just to open your eyes.

I will not be attempting a cannonball run.
It's fun to pipe dream. As young idiots decades ago, we used to sit around and try to concoct the ultimate stunt or feat. Setting the Cannonball record was one of those discussions. Others included trying to steal and relocate a traffic light, relocating the statue of Atlas holding the globe that sat in front of a local health spa, and swapping the lions from in front of the local boys catholic school and placing them down the street in front of the all girl catholic school.

It was just talk. We hung out back then. There was no internet to "What if..." or "Wouldn't it be cool to try to..." chat on. Same idle talk, just in a different method. I get it. I'm not going to brow beat you for wanting to talk about it. Truth be told EVERYONE who enjoys cars like we all do has pipe dreamed about it at one point or another...or some form of cross country run.

I figured you'd come to reality sooner than later. We all do -- well most -- when we have that thought.

I loved it when someone in the original Cannonball Run movie said that mid-80’s Countach runs 220 mph....not. Lol.
