California Duster?

Anybody suggest a better product than a California duster. Been using one for light dust for years think it is only o.k. Would like to try something new for my Shelby. Anyone recommend something better?

I've been skeptical about using the California duster because I think it creates swirls but not sure also curious if there's a better option because it's California dust is no joke

I use one for my interior and that is it. Otherwise youre dragging dust/dirt/pollen across the paint.

After quite a bit of studying and personal testing, I refuse to do a "dry rub" on my paint. I use super soft towels and a spray detailer, specifically Chemical Guys' Ecosmart. It contains a light wax to help lubricate the paint as you wipe. Been using it for two years on my daily drivers with good results. The detail spray is important but the key to success is only using SOFT towels.

I've been using dusters for decades with no issue, and the key is knowing when a car is too dirty to use one versus washing.

Otherwise it's detail sprays and soft cloths all the way. My GT has only been washed once, and that was when it hit the dealership before I picked it up. After I got it home it was clayed and sealed, nothing but dusters and detail spray since. Another (toy) car of mine hasn't been washed in a decade and is still pristine.

I have had a California duster for years and it one that I have has the old wooden Handle on the duster. Theses were only meant to use on your car when it is Just dusty, not if you have been driving in the rain with all the spray from and road film on you car, I have been using my California duster since the 80's and I have never messed up my cars paint, you just have to use a little common sence, on when to use it or not, if not give you car a Bath.......

What John said is how i also use mine.

Used mine since I bought the Mustang new back in July ... use it ONLY to pick up dust off the paint and just LIGHTLY brush the paint with the tips of the mop head. That's impossible to do on the side panels but just remember not to press hard - that's key!

That's amazing! My car has 800 miles on 3 months and 5 washes. One hand wash on delivery that wasn't negotiable, one before the sealant. One to remove finger prints from the xpel install and two because it's fun to spend time on the car. I feel like I've abused the paint now!

Agree with this. I haven't used it on my 350 yet but on my previous car with dark blue paint it didn't create swirls/scratches as long as a light touch is used and as said above knowing when the car is dirty vs. dusty.

When u use it knock off the strands often with your hand to help avoid build up.

I bought one and I'm pretty disappointed in it. It left little red fuzzies all over my paint when I dusted my car down. Then I had to go back over it with a microfiber towel to get all the fuzzies. What's the point of having this if you have to do the job twice? BTW, I did run my hands through it a couple times and shook it to try to get the fuzzies out but the wax on it wouldn't let it go.

Here is my take on this, if you read the instructions that come with the duster, they tell you not to wash it so it retains it's parafin wax or whatever it's called, but i found that if you wash it a couple times, it works even better and doesn't leave any streaking lines when used.
