Ha! I don’t bet on things I have no control over, never have and never will. I’ll tell you what I will do though. If ZR1 does beat GTD by 10 seconds or more, I will gladly come on here and say I was wrong in front of all who read this thread. I would hope you would do the same if GTD puts down a better time.

Ford has already been testing at the Nurburgring, from what I’ve read they were targeting a sub 7 minute lap time and feel confident that it will do it. The C8 Z06 in it most track focused form, from what I’ve seen had a lap time of 7:15. Is +350hp enough to cut 15+ seconds off its lap? How much has changed from Z06 to ZR1 when it comes to suspension and aero? They’re both heavy, and that is a hard penalty to overcome.

C8Z time I listed was a private driver in traffic, so it’s high, but do they even do closed laps anymore? I’m not sure.

Can’t compare the GTD to a Mach 1. There is no comparison at all

Can’t compare the GTD to the GT500 either IMO. They are totally different.

All I know if Farley is on record of going Porsche hunting as far as Ring lap times. I don’t think he would throw that out there if he wasn’t confident they could do it. Corvette was never mentioned as a benchmark. Take that as you will.

But as I’ve said many times here now, both will be phenomenal cars and we’re lucky both GM and Ford are upping the ante given the current push for EV and whatnot. I think both will be fantastic, wish my wallet was big enough for either one.

How much does the driver and conditions affect the result on the ring? If the same guy doesn’t drive both the zr1 and the gtd on the same day back to back are we going to continue arguing the outcome?

If it's a 10 second difference, definitely no argument

The GTD curb weight is 3293 pounds. The s550 GT500 curb weight is 4180 pounds. It's almost 1000 pounds lighter than a stock GT500. That's going to do a lot for acceleration and all performance. Combined with the transmission layout and upgraded chassis/suspension it could carry a lot.

The c8 zr1 curb weight is going to fall around 3900 lbs.

The GTD will weigh a substantial amount less than the C8 ZR1, to the point that it will probably handle curves much better.

They will be close it's not all in favor of the ZR1. Not at all
