So I like the lower Bullitt grill, but I have a few questions on the differences between the options, and I'm hoping you owners can add some clarification.

To be clear, I will be fitting the grill to a 2020 euro GT with the front radar system.

When comparing :

  • USDM lower grill
  • Euro lower grill
  • Ford performance Bullitt lower grill

What are the differences ?

Are they all gloss black (what I want) ?

Do they all work with the radar (what I need) ?

I'm trying to avoid having to import either the USDM or FP grill, but I'm not totally sure if the euro grill is gloss black ? (they are not exactly popular over here for me to view one, and I'm struggling to tell from photos).

I'm hoping the euro and FP versions are identical (I have seen the FP version fitted and it's what I like), and the ability to order / collect the euro version from my local dealer would be a real bonus.

Any help / guidance really appreciated :like:

Cheers,

Hey WD. I can’t answer your question on the radar as I don’t have that option on mine. I have the Ford piece on mine and it is 100% gloss black. This is the USDM version, I don’t know if the Euro version is any different. I can go out and take more pics if needed

Hope this helps

The euro version is different, I ordered it for my car with radar. It’s part number KR3Z-17K945-BA. You can see it’s more flat and much less pronounced honeycomb on the sides of the bottom grille.

That's it.
Some over here say no issues from the radar with the chinese replica USDM lower Bullitt grill, but i won't bet on this in every possible situation on the road.

as other poster stated KR3Z-17K945-BA is also used for 22-23 GT/CS lower grill for those that had the Adaptive Cruise Control.

you can see how its different looking to make the radar work if you look at it directly from front.

Thanks for the info so far :like:

I’m back from holiday now, so it’s easier for me to look into this a bit more / do a bit more research etc.

I do (much) prefer the deeper look of the FP grill, but has anyone seen if they officially state it’s suitable (or not) for the radar cars ?

Interestingly, look what’s on the car they use for their official instructions :

Someone asked the question to CJ Pony Parts and it seems they have verified it does work the the radar…

Ford went to the trouble of changing the part for a reason.
The US Bullitt always comes without radar! The EU Bullitt always comes with radar and has the grille without deep combs.
Ask Ford Performance, they responded quickly and helpful to my query about the discontinued clutch line.

PS: US spec 2022 GT CS with Radar have also the flat combs, as mentioned above:

PPS: I think in most cases the radar will work with the deep combs, but you will achieve greater operational reliability, e.g. in bad weather (heavy rain, snowfall), with the flat combs.
If you have driven cars with radar in different weather conditions then you know what I mean. Depending on the type of obstacle, e.g. a leaf sticking in front of the sensor or snow build-up, thick fog or heavy rain, the radar may fail. The threshold to failure will be lower with the deep honeycombs than with the flat combs.

I have asked FP, so I will report back with what they are prepared to put in writing :like:

In the meantime, I was in the dealers yesterday (service time), and the Bullitt / CS lower grill part number KR3Z-17K945-BA translates to this part number and cost in the UK system :

If anyone is interested, (at this moment in time) that's approx $234 or €212 :like:

Well I asked this :

1725533979044-k9.webp

And got a simple, but direct answer back :

1725534029722-u5.webp

Note that they didn't respond to my comment about the demo car having radar ... :giggle:

All things considered, I think I'm still going to jump for the 'deep' style lower grill.

So am I right in thinking that :

A) The 'deep' grill is identical / shared between the FP kit, non radar Bullitt's and non radar CS's ?

B) The 'deep' grill is US part number KR3Z-17K945-AA ? (BA being for the radar version)

@MAGS1 - Can you recall (approximately) how much your 'deep' grill cost you to buy locally ?

Cheers,

I paid $160 USD from Tasca Ford Parts. They have some of the best prices on parts in my experience.

I installed a bullitt grille a while ago and the adaptive cruise stopped working after a few weeks or so. It now has a warning whenever I start the car and periodically while driving, the regular cruise control is inop aswell . I will be switching to the flat honeycomb despite it not looking as good. I also performed an ACC relearn which did not fix it.

I'm curious to see if the ACC causes any problems, because this are the deep combs.

Yeah after the mixed reviews on that issue, I'm interested in that too :like:

I did think about it, and appreciating everyones wants / needs are different, this is where my train of thought took me :

  • I have only ever used the ACC once, and that was to test it when the car was new.
  • In day to day normal usage, I used the cruise for the first time the other day - and that was just messing around as I was bored and didnt want to get carried away with the throttle in a average speed restricted camera zone (I use cruise a lot in my daily driver, but the two cars serve very different purposes for me).
  • I don't use the mustang in wet / frosty / snowy conditions i.e. conditions where the radar issues might become more pronounced.
  • If ACC doesnt work, it will be just like a Mach 1 ... lol
  • If normal cruise doesn't work, I won't really miss it ... lol

Note : As the car has ACC, I would like it to work - I don't really want to take any functionality away from the car.

If it doesn't work or causes me intermittent problems, I had wondered about a fix that would keep the look of the deeper grill, but also the ACC functionality of the shallow grill.

Not that I would be happy about taking the front off again, but I would plan on reducing the depth of the grill from the back, just in a patch immediately in front of the radar box i.e. similar to what I did to the inlet area of the main grill :

1746604343617-pq.jpg

With where the radar box sits and the size of it, I don't think that would even be noticeable (unless kneeling down looking for it) :

1746604943252-bi.jpg

I would just need to consider waterproofing of the radar box and its connection (if not already well sealed) and the potential for air to escape.

I will report back either way - but bear in mind with my usage quoted above, it won't be a high mileage / all year round / all weather type of test :like:
