Hellhorse is selling a shortblock built by RPG on their website. They say it can handle 1200whp but it doesn't have sleeves. What do you guys think?

I was told if I get my motor built and I want to make a 1000hp at the wheels I need to get aftermarket valve springs. He said eventually the springs will start to float. Any truth to that? I hear people are make 1000hp built bottom end stock heads without issues.

I got this built bottom end from RPG with the ARP studs and billet OPGs. made 980 wheel at 5500 rpm (before my charge pipe blew off) on about 17 psi. RPG said this block can handle 22-24 psi. Make sure you get 12:1 CR. kept my gen 2 cams and heads. RPG customer service is also on point

Damn!!! I'll need the gen 2. I have a 15. Another thing I like about RPG is they have a 12 month warranty. Who tuned it? What's your setup? How long did it take to get your shortblock built?

you can use a gen 3 with your gen 2 heads and cams, thats what i have. the gen 3 is 12:1 CR vs gen 11:1 CR. You don't need 16 injectors either. Lund tuned and I got hellion TT 62's, full E85. took about 6-8 weeks but well worth the wait. was having issues with my charge pipe so ordered a new one and replacing my spark plugs. when i get ID1300 and a third fuel pump ill push 20 PSI

Nice!!. Most of the time I'll be on 93 and E85 when I can get it. I'll probably drop the compression down to 10:1 to keep me a little safer.. yeah I'll have to run more boost but I'm ok with that. I have a vortech v7jt with id1000. I'll be getting a fuel system soon to support the E85. I want to make 750 close to 800 at the wheel on 93 on E85 I want to be at 1000 at the wheel

I personally wouldn't make over 700 wheel on 93, thats just my thought. 1000 wheel might take a lot of boost with 10:1 CR but im sure your tuner would know more. whos gonna tune it? id go with Lund, best tuner for sure.

I'm Going with lund. And your right. 700 might be pushing it. I've already cracked a ringland In my current block. Low compression on 8 and 6. I don't know if the back to back pulls did it,..93 fuel or the tune. Car made 741 600 plus tq on 13lbs with a gallon on 110 race fuel mixed with 93.

Did you do any head work? Get your heads decked, valve job/ springs?

no i didn't touch the heads or valves, figured that would be overkill for now since my goal is 1000+. i don't always drive on 1000+, boost controller lets me pick what psi. usually drive on 10 psi (750~) wheel. enough for most cars hahaa

On a gen2 block it’s recommended that you get the supports in the water jacket to make 1200whp but 1200whp has been done on a sealed gen2. on a gen3 you are good at 1200whp on stock block as long as the cylinder coating doesn’t come off.
On a supercharged engine valve springs and not a issue. You can build your short block to handle 1000+ for under $3000

I ordered the same Gen 3 level 2 short block from RPG but got the block sleeved and o ringed for an additional $2700. They suggested that I’d be fine till 1200whp without sleeving, but being that my factory block failed at just 500 miles after Whipple install and had cylinder scoring on #8 on just 11psi running pump gas and boostane (Lund tuned), I didn’t want to take any chances.
