Well, figured it out.

Big slice of humble pie and quite embarrassing, but I feel it’s important to share publicly to emphasize the importance of PROPER installation. A byproduct of rushing a job in the midst of military retirement, college, fatherhood, life. A good reminder to slow it down no matter how long I’ve been turning wrenches.

I was just reading through the thread and thinking, why is his pad so low on the rotor...

Every day I come out to my Fusion, I see some deep gouges in the rotor where I drove around the block with the pad on backwards. We've all been there!

I love this! We have all done something like this, tried everything to fix it, then realized it was something simple. Glad you found the source of the problem. Calipers look great!

Pads and rotors looked perfect before replacing the calipers. No issues before this. The calipers (along with ss lines) are the only new parts in the braking system.

Used parts need time to seat into the surface they run on. Come back in 90 more miles.

Ruined a real nice expensive rotor too. being a dumbass sure can be expensive ha

My Pop, who will be 89 this year, bought a new battery for his (my) Jeep. He calls me and says everything is dead! Hmm…I do a bit of research and figure it could be a starter relay or the ignition interlink switch in the steering column.

So I get there today and start with swapping the starter relay in the power distribution box. Then, I go to hook up the battery, which he had left disconnected, and I find the battery post insulator stuck in the positive battery connector! Well, once I removed it and hooked the battery back up I fired right up.

Pop was quite embarrassed and I just laughed and asked him to join me in the chuckle. Nobody is perfect and my bet would be that not one person on all of the automotive forums, if they be honest, could claim to be.

Much respect for the OP. Being able to admit that he made a mistake. It is the first step to becoming better at any task. Being able to admit it on a forum is just damn courageous.
