Hey guys, I've made a few threads on here about my ongoing fiasco with the purchase of a shady mustang. The dealership will refund my money tomorrow.

Anyways, there's nothing on the market here in Toronto that I like, and I realize the greatest virtue to getting a good deal on a mustang.....so i bought myself a beater winter car to drive around in while I look.

Here is the car

Here is the carfax

2013 Ford Taurus Police Intercepter with AWD......Negotiated and the final sale price is $3600. Has 208,000km (129K miles) and 3 minor accidents.

Drives good, and the seller will get it safetied by a mechanic for me.

But the only problem is that there are holes ALL THROUGHOUT THE BODY AND ROOF......just patched in with duct tape. (From old police lights, sirens etc).....They did a good job of concealing it in the website pictures, but they are such an eyesore. I cant imagine trying to get a girl into a car with duct tape and rust. Any tips?

But then again, its 305HP for $3600.

Any experiences with old cop cars?
What do you guys think?
In case I dont get a mustang, will this last me a few more years?
Should I get my own mechanical inspection?
Deal is not finalized just yet, should I reconsider? Thoughts?

Update: Probably will not go through with the deal. Will be costly to maintain and already a lot of KM on it. Also too much of an eyesore.

Cop cars get a heavy duty alternator and brake upgrades (sometimes).
the good thing is that maintenance is normally done by the book and generally on time....
But with that being said it could have been used as the practice car at a police academy and every single mile was on a track and beat to all hell.
former cop cars are normally really cheap due to the abuse and long idle hours they put them through.
Could you drive it ten years and another 100k miles no issues sure.. could the transmission fall out in the next week and under 10 miles sure...

The Taurus is a great running car. I drove a 2015 Taurus as my work car for 3 years. As for the holes, maybe you could fill them with bondo, sand them down and then have the roof and A-pillars (if there are holes from search lights) wrapped in vinyl and you’re all set.

Toronto has a pretty decent train system and bus/trolly too. Do these not work for some reason? Sheet, I walked from Blackberry HQ to the Greek quarter and back when I was there. Admittedly not winter, but rather mid/late fall.

You really need to find someone local to mentor you in your car-buying journey.

Also what's with the big holes in mileage reports? After it left police service it acquired 18,700 miles in a year? Ok, but what did the car do between 11/13 and supposed sale on 9/2020? We're missing at least one sale transaction unless it was being used as a runner by the dealership. And now barely 3 months on it's for sale again. Wanna guess why the last owner dumped it?

And yes you ALWAYS get your own mechanic to do an assessment!! The seller has every reason to lie and so does his mechanic.

This is more apropos to a 'beater'.

Lots of options:
Only date chicks that own a fire suit and helmet and run in 24hrsofLemons, ChampCar, or WRL, etc.
Ether?
Chloroform?
Make sure you have a great personality and are lots of fun?
Consider dating men?

drunk. "close your eyes, I have a surprise... Ok, watch your head. You can open them now."

Just how old are you that "car leads to booty" is even in your thought process? You need about 6 digit in your MSRP to make an impression. Beer/wine is hella cheaper.

Seriously dude, look on Kijiji ! In the greater Toronto area there is literally 10 pages of Mustangs. Lots of nice ones actually worth buying and at decent prices and low milage.
My advice :
-Don’t fall for any scams.
-Check out a bunch before you jump into a decision and make sure nothing is wrong with it.
-Offer less money than they are asking.
-Don’t be afraid to walk away.
-***MOST IMPORTANT ****. Take someone with you !! Someone that knows ANYTHING about buying cars.
-& lastly, don’t start another thread here until you have a car and a deal that we can be proud of you for. Buying a car is not this difficult.

Now, unless all your threads are just a troll job (which I’m starting to think they are) then BRAVO !!! You got me.

It's a cop car, when they remove their equipment they aren't going to waste time patching the holes, lol. Just use tape or silicone or something. It's a beater ain't it? With that said these engines are notorious for water pump failure, so make sure to check under the alternator often for coolant weeping. It's a huge expense to change it too, gotta pull the timing cover and chains, the whole shebang. Cop cars get run hard and spend a lot of time idling too, which makes it even more likely. I've heard of some police cars getting two or three water pumps before getting kicked to the curb.

Judging by your second post though, you're getting taken for a ride with financing. Credit issues?

Yes... step up your game. I was getting laid crawling over the middle console of my car at the beginning of every first date because my driver side door wouldn't open. Just kidding but that is a true story.

I personally wouldn't buy that car if you haven't already but it sounds like you already know that.

If your car stops you from getting women........it's not your car.

I got more ass than a toilet seat as a young man, despite driving multiple beaters. Be awesome, and that ass will present itself.
