I recently obtained a free 2010 impala with 154,000 miles. 3.5 v6. It had been sitting forever, put new fresh battery in fired it up got 6 codes. Pedal position sensor, transmission shift solenoid, transmission control, ect, evap purge.. drove it around got a reduced power message. Cleared codes, started back up, only thing that popped up was evap. Gave it a few revs no reduced power. Question is when a battery goes dead from sitting for a long time and all these codes pop up on first start up could it be just because the computer was "freaking out" I don't really wanna tow this a 150 miles back home I don't want to get a ticket for driving it with expired tags either. If I have to put too much into it ima scrap it.

I would test drive and see how it does. If doesn’t over heat etc after 30 minutes, I’d drive it. As far as plates, did you buy it or was it given to you? If it was given to you and they signed the title over, I’d put insurance on it and drive it home. If you get stopped explain how you acquired it. I doubt you would have any issues, unless something hinky is going on.

I reset the codes on a hunch, checked the oil, drove it back home. 972 miles. No lights came back.

Needed 2 blend door actuators for the ac.
Wheel bearing needs to be replaced soon.
That's it.
