Well, got my car back today and all I can say is WOW. Borla Touring with stock cat back sounds good but pretty quiet. Not much louder than stock but more V8ish if you know what I mean.
Borla touring with Kooks long tube headers/"green" cats sounds unbelievable! Absolute zero drone at any speed. As a matter of fact with the windows up and AC on while I was on the highway I was like wow, this is quiet, very quiet and I was beginning to think the headers didn't wake it up enough. I drove the whole 25 minute ride on the highway without the stereo on and tried multiple speeds and gears and RPM's and it was quite with zero drone.
When I got off the highway I shut off the AC and opened the windows and that's when the smile hit me. The car just sounds freaking awesome. Exactly what I was looking for.
Mind you I also had a McLeod clutch installed so I can not mash the go pedal for 500-1,000 miles to let the clutch break in but it sounds great! The best description I can give is it sounds like the S Types when under acceleration with more bass but mild and timid when putting around.
If anybody is concerned with drone or extremely loud exhaust with using long tube headers I would say with complete certainty that this setup is for you.
I am so happy how this turned out. Sounds aggressive and American V8 ish when you want and drone free highway enjoyment when you want. Absolutely perfect.
I am sure it will break in more and gain a few db's but nothing to make or break anything.
gsxr1300 and I plan on using his go pro and trying to capture what I'm saying in a video for you all but please give us some time. My schedule is a complete disaster for the next solid week so it's going to have to be after that.
