Get the Boomba mount and a Whiteline transmission bushing insert. I have the Steeda version of Boomba’s mount and it‘s far better than the flimsy factory tail mount. Better to spend a little extra and do it once, than to spend a little and do it twice.

the boomba is completely different than stock. it has 3 round poly bushings rather than the one piece rubber. its also $150 vs the $40 or so whiteline/other companies inserts. i dont mind spending the money if its a lot better than the stock with a insert. however if its basically the same thats $100 i can spend elsewhere on my stang.

I agree, the Boomba bracket is even beefier. The Whiteline piece I was referring to goes towards the front end of the tranny, right above the crossmember. It fills the void in the bushing. Coupling the Whiteline insert with the Boomba bracket/bushing will remove even more flex in the tranny.

I just looked on Boomba’s site and they offer a completely new transmission mount to replace the factory one above the crossmember. That would be the way to go IMO.

I read poor feedback on inserts in the past so I got the 60d boomba transmission mount (not shifter). Helps a lot with 1-2 and 3-2 shift consistency. Noticeable but not bad NVH increase, it does take a few days and heat cycles to calm down though. It was Loud the first few drives. Adds some vibration in the floor pan, especially on decel in lower gears.

but that said, it’s easy to install on stands later and the MGW is pretty universally agreed to fix shifting issues on the MT-82. I would suggest waiting and get the mount later if you’re missing something after the MGW. Since it’s transmission mounted instead of body, the MGW should solve shifting issues; the mount only mitigates issues w/ stock shifter in my opinion, doesn’t solve them 100%. If I could do it again I would have spent on an MGW all at once vs buying the two brackets over time (in my signature)

I am currently using the Energy Suspension Shifter Bushing Kit 4.1141G and it has helped a good amount. How will using the Boomba mount help further?

Kit I am using.....

I'm running the Boomba trans mount (street version) and the shifter mount. I'm happy with the upgrades. Never had a problem with mis-shifts or lock outs after these 2 pieces and the BG Synchro fluid change. My car is a fun, street car. I don't track it or take it to the strip, just something fun to drive around in.

Here are some pics of the original and boomba replacement parts I took during the install.

good info coming in. much appreciated. the boomba mount look like a 20 minute job max so maybe i will see if the trans mounted shifter is enough for me. if not it would be easy enough to do later. i will have a lift in my garage by then so that will make it even easier.

The Boomba trans mounts look very nice. I was just going back through old photos from when I was modifying my 2013 Mustang GT and I found these pics from when I enhanced a factory trans mount. I started off by cooking the rubber off in an old BBQ grill, had my buddy fab up a jig and I ordered some liquid polyurethane and poured my own bushing. It turned out very nice. I ended up selling the car without installing it. I don’t even remember where it is now. It does look the same as what’s in my 2019 Bullitt though.

no problem. i might do that as well. way cheaper and i bet with more polyurethane it helps keep the nvh down overall.
Additional info. for you if you do it yourself. I placed the jig plate and trans bracket in a box, after I bolted the bracket down to the jig plate. I then packed sand (got some from the craft store) around the perimeter. That’s what keeps the liquid urethane from leaking out before it has a chance to harden. I also rubbed a coat of beeswax on the jig plate first, so that the mount would separate easily after the urethane hardened.
