The service manager said they should have been more proactive checking into it. New glass has been ordered.
 You would think...meanwhile, you the customer continues to wait. I'm even surprised that dealer is still in business.

Tell him this time to be on top of it...his parts department can track everything. Contact the dealerships customer retention staff or if they have a FB page, put them on blast.

I even wrote the parts manager and this is what they said in email. The service manager was the only one who finally got to the bottom of things

Yes sir the glass was ordered on 05-07-2015. I received a invoice on this glass from Ford on my parts statement but we have not received the part.
I put in a request to Ford for the tracking number to track this. I have put in the request to them 2 times and have not heard from them. We can not call
Ford Motor Company, we have to rely on email. I have a called our Ford Rep and she is checking on this for me.
I reordered another one this morning. As soon as I get a response from Ford I will contact you.

I am sorry for the inconvience and will keep you up to date on the information.

I went in to the dealer after work to talk about having my trunk adjusted. While there I took the opportunity to check out all the Mustangs on the lot.. there were nine of them. +Every+ one had panel alignment issues. The most common being the sloping rear glass, crooked trunk lid and uneven gaps on either side of the hood (on two cars the hood was actually touching the fender on one side). Also saw another that had just been serviced.. with the same issues. I can't understand why this isn't getting more attention?

Hmm

I should not admit this, but on the last (4) brand new cars I bought off a car lot, two of which are Fords, one is a mustang, I have never, ever, ever looked one single time if any panels are aligned. Maybe I didn't look because it simply looked new.

But I am sure I would have noticed if something was glaringly "way off", such as any panel scraping another one (such as hood kissing a fender, of fender rubbing a door, etc.

I truly think the average mustang buyer...90 percent of them do not belong to any kind of Enthusiast online forum. They just "bought it because it is cool", and so long as it runs...that's all they are worried about...

--->> what will be INTERESTING...is if you go to car lots..and see 2016 mustangs...and notice NONE of them have panel alignment problems anymore. This would mean, something truly was "wrong", and they at least fixed it,...and now it's "right".

2016 fixed? I don't believe that at all until I see it!

Most younger people give a shxxx about new things. They buy it, use it for 3 weeks and forget it. End of the story. I know friends of my son, they are mostly 18-25, they buy cellphones like candy. $500 and now $700 for the next i*thing. Same with cars. Couple of the guys are 20 years young and actually "run" through cars every 6 month. They don't care. "What? I didn't like it anymore and got now this one..." That's what I get to hear if I ask where the other car is now.

You can see that here when some members posting videos. Panels don't fit on there cars but they are happy with 400+++ whp and really do not care how the car looks a like. Sorry not my thing. I like to drive a nice looking car and like to keep it for a couple years. But maybe I am getting old!
What I do not like is that companies like FORD pushing out cars with lots of issues and hopping that most drivers don't care what they drive.

Update:
Dropped my car off at the dealership because an FORD engineer would like to checkout my car today. Guess what? No engineer there and the body shop got some black and white pictures with some gap measurements faxed the body shop should check out. :headbonk: FROM NOW on I can't take FORD for serious anymore. My dealer and the body shop guys did wait for the "FORD engineer" and all they got was some pictures?!

Now I am asking to get a different car! PERIOD! :paddle:
The foreman of the body shop did say that the whole shop is backed up with 2015 Mustangs and F150's because customers complain about the poor quality FORD is shipping out. I will contact our local city TV station if they like to make a report about the poor quality FORD is offering. Actually some guys from the body shop made some jokes about this useless "American pride" stickers FORD is putting into the cars.

Driving again a Ford Focus. This time a hatchback.

Since I got my Mustang, I have gone over my 2011 Ford Fusion from top to bottom, sideways and backwards, and can not find one panel or glass out of alignment. Everything is PERFECT. I have never had an interior trim piece squeak or rattle (107k miles). Why can't/didn't they get it right on the Mustang???? Ugh...

I mentioned it already earlier here. My Ford Fusion loaner car was a 2013 and looked like a brand new car should look like. My Mustang is not even close to that quality the Fusion had. :first:

I'm in the process of a Lemon Law claim and I won the arbitration hearing. Ford was ordered to fix my hood, trunk, door, and fender alignment because they were claiming it's normal and within tolerance. Now I am working with Ford to get it repaired and they called two different dealership collision centers and both are refusing to touch it stating it's normal. WTF? The passenger door rubs the fender when you open it, not normal. One manager told me in January he doesn't want to touch it because he can't fix it, it's too crooked and he didn't want to be responsible for tearing it apart and it still not be right. Now Ford wants to send out the engineer again for the third time to right up a report and they need one of the collision center managers to allow them to do this. The person I am working with is with the Reaquired Vehicle Department and says we have to go through the process and it's now just a formality that the "higher ups" are instructing her to do. Before they can order me a replacement the engineer has to inspect it again. They know we are running out of time to order a 2015 and I don't want a 2016. I'm so frustrated and tired of fighting to get my car replaced, I have been fighting since I got my car January 23. I haven't been able to really enjoy my new car in four months of ownership because I have been fighting to get it fixed or replaced. Lesson learned, NEVER sign and drive until it's right or just refuse delivery and order another. Never again!

I think you're doing the right thing. For cars that cannot be fixed, this is the best possible solution.

Geez that's terrible. I'm already losing faith in Ford and if mine was that bad, I'd probably return the lemon and go out and buy something else...and I'm a Mustang fanboy too...but I don't put up with crap like this. I just really want my trunk fixed and I'd be happy.

I see you got a 50th AP, so I can see why you'd want a 2015 replacement, but if I were you I'd consider the fact that you get Sync 3 with the 2016s. I really hate the MFT system, and Sync3 is supposed to be world's better. Just my $0.02!

To sell lots of Fusions, Ford has to compete on +quality+ with cars from Japan, Korea and Europe. Ford is more than capable of doing this when it wants to. The Focus has been doing great in Europe for years, competing against Golf, Civic, etc. and more than holding it's own.

Mustangs are very different. Mustangs sell themselves because there is a hard-core, loyal fan base who will buy them no matter what. These customers are in effect "taken for granted" by Ford. Not much has to be done to earn their custom and in any case, for most of them, the performance/price ratio outweighs all other considerations. For these reasons, when Ford is deciding how to spend their budget for the new Mustang, they go for performance and styling and try to minimize the cost. They could have overhauled the factory to have tighter tolerances but they obviously decided this didn't make business sense for the Mustang. It would have likely meant a significant increase in the new Mustangs sticker price and that was deemed unacceptable. This mentality is the same reason the Mustang had a solid rear axle until 2014!

This generation was supposed to be different though. Because for the first time, Ford is selling these cars in markets like Europe where customers pay a lot more attention to quality issues like how well panels are aligned. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

I am in the same situation as you but I am too nice I think. My car is the third time in the shop and I couldn't even talk to the engineer. There was none! It sickens me to the heart to read things like that and see it in front of my garage. Maybe we should switch case numbers and VIN# if someone likes to open a law suit against FORD.
The foreman never did see so a crooked car like my car he said. He also mentioned that he doesn't know where to start to get it right.

All panels have "waves" on the edges, doors, lids etc. . There is not one perfect straight edge on my car. The foreman mentioned that FORD stamps their own panels and they had to send back the trunk lid what should replace the one on my car because they don't like to use it at all. Makes me wonder where Ford is getting the machines from. USA?

If European customers look at the cars I do, Ford gets a lot problems in Europe. I can promise that right here. I did send already pictures to my German Ford dealership and the sales manager said he won't accept one Mustang looking like my car on his lot.

Plus the media is a lot more on the side of the consumer and less scared of offending the industry over there. Many Brits still blame Jeremy Clarkson for the demise of the British car industry lol. Personally, I think that's giving him way too much credit.

Ford must be breathing a sigh of relief that Top Gear is no longer on air because if they had gotten wind of these problems, they would not have pulled their punches. Of course, Ford would have been smart enough to send them a perfect example to review though!
