I might add the bracket is great but it will add heat to the center console.
I haven't noticed any heat, the only place where there is direct contact between the bracket and shifter is the bushing that goes around the snout coming off the shifter, no metal on metal contact

Shifter height has some adjustment

The blowfish bracket has two main pieces, the part that solid mounts to the trans and the part that hooks up to the shifter. Since the blowfish eliminates the body mount, the only thing the shifter is connected to is the trans. On the last step when you bolt the bracket together, you can move the shifter side of the bracket up and down before you tigthen the bolts. You need to push up before you tighten it up as the shifter falls like 1-2" downward when you unhook the stock body mount. I suppose if you push it up too far as you bolt it down you can raise it even higher than stock.

Honestly I don't think there is any increase in shifter height on mine, and if there was, I didn't notice. You could always get back under the car and loosen the bolts and allow the top bracket to come down lower and then tighten it back up OP
In terms of driving, the shifter height doesn't bother me. I just want to know if there are any downsides if the shifter is higher. Will it cause increased wear? A friend I spoke to said rain can get in that area since the shifter is up, but I don't know.

** Anyone know if there is a downside to having the shifter sit up higher in the car? **
If the shifter is mounted too high it can be contacting the body causing both wear to the shifter body and potentially more strain where the bracket bolts to the transmission mount. I would put the car on a lift and verify the shifter isn't contacting the body and lower it as much as possible.

I second your review. And I'll add that the vibration isn't harsh - more of a feedback..."connected to the machine" kind of thing. Ford's mission was to sell a lot of Mustangs. But I happen to like sports cars. The Blowfish makes the Mustang more fun (unless you don't like sports cars maybe).
Agree 100%

I take it this bracket wouldnt work later with someone that has plans for a magnum xl swap.
The purpose of the Blowfish transmission shifter bracket is to solidly mount the shifter to the transmission instead of the stock remote body-mounted shifter. The Tremec Magnum is already a solid mount shifter so this bracket would be useless. However once you've driven a Blowfish-equipped Getrag you might rethink the Tremec, especially if you're still only a bolt-on owner. If you have a PD blower then the extra tall and wide gears of the Tremec might actually be preferred.

I might add the bracket is great but it will add heat to the center console.
It shouldn't. If it did with your car then something is wrong.

I got one of the first Blowfish brackets made on my 2011 and I had to enlongate some of the bolt holes in order to lower mine sufficiently. Blowfish has since modified their design with their 'Street' version and this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

As I said previously the only reason to worry is if the shifter is so high it is contacting the body. Rain shouldn't be any issue at all.

155mph in the 1/4 is definitely pushing it for a three-pedal car! The Evolution GT500 that ran 8's at 160mph+ with the stock trans looked like a roller coaster ride from hell!! So freakin' awesome! :headbang:

I think has the trans gets hot the bracket gets hot as well, since it is connected to the trans. The heat then rises and radiates near the cup holder/ center console.

F*** yeah! :headbang:(there needs to be a more radical version of this emoticon!)

The bracket bolts to the transmission mount more than the case of the trans directly. I seriously doubt you could get any significant heat transfer to go though the trans mount, through the two piece painted bracket, through the lower shifter portion(that has a gasket), into the upper portion, into the shifter level, then through the non-metallic shift knob, into your hand.

Furthermore the Blowfish Street bracket is rubber mounted at the shifter body itself, so that would pretty much eliminate any chance for heat transfer. I have the original Race version which is 100% steel and even then I notice zero heat transfer. My shift knob is phenolic resin(cue ball).

My blowfish bracket should be delivered today. Any tips for an easy install besides a low profile wobble socket?

Watch CJs install videos a few times. Make sure you have all the tools ready to go. Make sure you know how everything fits together (put it all together once before you put it on the car - space is tight and a few steps are by braille). Pretty simple install as these things go. Finally, do it on a lift if possible.

what he said....i put them both on my 12 & 15, lift is way easier...if your changing exhaust, i would do it then since its easier with exhaust out of the way....
braille is definite...since its hard to see in that tiny space as it is.

Shifter bracket went in today. All in, not too bad of a job. I am really happy they provide Carriage bolts because this job would be about 10 times tougher with a normal nut and bolt.

I am pleased with the results. Shifts are definitely more direct and less notchy going into gear. Almost ever gear is one solid snap instead of a couple little pops or notches. There is no added noise and only a bit of vibration. Worth every penny.

I have a bracket on the way as well, and will post my impressions. Should have it bolted on early next week. I already have a Steeda trans bracket bushing to keep the trans from moving around as much. I'm thinking it will be unnecessary while using the BF bracket. Thoughts?

I have the steed bushing as well. I kept mine in. The bushing helped a bit, but by no means solved any of the shifting issues. It compliments the bracket well.

I received my bracket a couple of days ago. Looking forward to getting it installed and posting some feedback.
