Blowfish Bracket

I spoke to MGW about this today, more detail will be available as soon as the release their 11-14 Race Spec shifter which will incorporate the same technology. The 11-14 race spec shifter will be very very close to what the 2015 shifter will be. They did confirm that their new shifter will eliminate the need for the trans bracket. The Race spec shifter should be released next week.

I wouldn't worry about it. I like the extra vibrations from the shifter as it makes the car feel like my '67. Normal DD it is hardly noticeable. At very low speeds you can hear more whirring from the trans but that too is only noticeable if you are really listening for it.

There is a difference between a trans bracket and the Blowfish bracket. The current '11-14 and '15 shifters are mounted to the body with a trans bracket bolted at the rear of the shifter. The MGW's come with their own bracket. Now, having never seen the '15 MGW shifter they may have incorporated something completely new, however my first question to George(who designed the MGW shifter) was if it mounted to the trans or body and he said it mounts to the body.

Here is a visualization of the difference between the two designs. This is an '11-14 model depiction, the '15 is similar.

The stock shifter bracket is red, the transmission mount is magenta. Notice how the red shifter bracket bolts to the body:

Here is the Blowfish bracket, lower piece in orange, mid piece in yellow, and mounting bracket to the shifter is green. Note how the mounting point on the body is no longer used:

just how bad is the vibrations? i saw a video where the guys shifter was visibly shaking and you could hear it vibrating against metal of some sort...is it really that bad? or is it something smaller and he might have installed wrong? is there any way to relieve some of the vibration with some rubber grommets or something? i was considering buying this for my 15

Depends on what you consider bad? My car is my DD and my Blowfish bracket doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hell I forget about it while commuting. A buddy drove my car and he was driven insane by it, so it all depends on how sensitive you are.

a little more hum is not that bad...when you can hear metal on metal vibrating loudly in a video i think thats bad....if its like the drone you get with aftermarket exhaust then i can live with some but i shouldnt have to hear metal on metal.

At a specific RPM under heavy acceleration the shifter itself can vibrate, but there is no metal on metal contact that vibrates anywhere.

So what should I expect if I buy the steeda trans bracket and that's it? I'm not looking to race or anything I'm looking for a slightly better feel but also easy on the wallet. The blowfish looks great but I feel that might be overkill for me. Also looking at the same setup for the 2012 boss 302 I have.. Since I'm not racing id like to at least feel confident that my shifts go where I want them to go.
