I installed mine yesterday and it was definitely a significant improvement. I haven't put enough miles on it to give a thorough review, but so far I like it a lot. The added vibrations in the shift nob is hardly noticeable and I even noticed that shifting felt more direct in daily driving. A ratcheting 15mm wrench helps a lot with the install and the instructions are great. I was originally going to get the MGW, but I like the throws of the factory shifter and the reverse lockout. I also don't like the idea of the stronger centering spring potentially putting pressure on the shift forks while in gear, but it's probably a negligible difference.

I'm using the FTBR shifter bracket until i can get around to buying something more substantial like an MGW...Pretty hard to beat for $70

I like to disassemble things.

The centering spring pressure doesn't overcome either that of the spring/ball detents or the rail and guide system so you don't have to worry about increased pressure on the forks.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. What about the claim that the MGW puts stress on the rail bearing in the transmission due to its lack of joints in the linkage?

Whoever made this claim does not know anything about the design of the Race Spec OR the MT-82.

The shifter is perfectly aligned so there is no stress whatsoever. And in addition, if you watch our video you will see that we show that the linkage sleeve and bolt which is the EXACT OEM pieces as we source them from the same company Ford does, has lateral and vertical play so it is not stressed EVEN if the shifter were not perfectly aligned.

You are basically hearing BS from competitors trying to downplay the advantage and cost associated with doing it right.

So would you consider the blowfish bracket and your shifter a perfect match or overkill

At this time I am still on the fence with all this

The blowfish bracket will not work with the Race Spec. It is self supported and needs nothing else.

I have the blowfish and love it. Installed the MGW in my c6 and it was a great shifter. I just didn't want to spend the $$$ this time around.

1+ years on the Blowfish. Love it. Significant improvement in feel / solidity of the shifter. Improved the 1/2 and 2/3 shifts (little if any nibble or grind). Seems to align the shifter and transmission better. You will notice more vibration from the shifter now that it is connected to the transmission (this is a direct result of being properly aligned to the tranny). I prefer the direct feel of a top loader so I'm fine with it - your mileage may vary. There is also a slight, intermittent buzz coming from Ford's lame plastic reverse lockout sleeve due to the increase in vibration...a little too much play in the mechanism. Can't imagine going back to stock.
