I got the Steeda struts and put them on this weekend. Pretty happy with them overall. The upper brackets are bigger than the Redlines and Ford versions, and came with some rubber bumpers to help minimize movement betwen the bracket and hood. Though I'm surprised there is only one bolt for the upper brackets. But no hood flex when closing and they didn't seem to affect hood alignment at all.

I think in hindsight the Roush struts are probably a little more sturdy because the upper brackets have multiple mount points, and the lowers use a different mounting point. But the installation is more involved, and I really didn't want to jack around with aligning the hood afterward.

Could someone please provide the torque specs for the hood bolts?

I realized I hate my Ford performance struts today... They don't locate against anything where it mounts to car body and raising and lowering hood causes the bracket to want to swivel.

Are the redline or steedas set up better in that regard? Like the mounts on the body good and solid and no stress or movement when opening and closing hood?

Roush FTW. I have installed 2 sets on mine (22 GT and my 21 Mach 1) as well as another set on a friend's 20 Ecoboost. Very well made. Top bracket goes thru BOTH hood bolts, and the bottom bracket has 2 bolts as well. And the struts themselves are very strong. I have to pull mine almost 1/2 way down before it starts to drop...

If you have the Ford performance ones in highly recommend upgrading the hardware to stainless steel because they rust out and I barely drive mine in the rain. You want a 8mm course thread x 30 mm long along with the 8mm lock washer. This looks alot better imo

Roush Hood Struts came in and I installed them last night. So on the brackets for the hood they give the small rectangular pads for the bracket. They also supplied 2 round pads, but no mention of where they go, anyone have input on this?

For he redlines, what do the bottom mounts look like? I can't tell from their site because they don't show that in pictures well. The top mounts on even the Ford performance ones don't bother me... It's just they the bottoms can pivot and potentially wear down paint.

No the roush strut kit came with a black bracket that mounts to both top hood bolts, but it looks smaller than your photo. Heres what roush looks like, but theres no mention of the round pads. Just wanted to know if they were supplied by accident or if they go somewhere. No videos found online mention it either.

I didn't use the round pads, but the square ones I put under the brackets like they're supposed to be. Mine installed just fine and it worked perfectly. I've installed 2 sets now on both my Mustangs.

Thanks for the response, yes I did use the square as well. Just weird that there is no mention as to what the rounds would be for
