If you can't find a quality used set, you can get a new set of stainless power for just under $1400

https://www.americanmuscle.com/stainless-power-catted-lt-headers-oe-1516gt.html

I put a set of those exact headers on my 17 and I have another set still in the box waiting to go on my 23. Stainless power is just the budget line from stainless works, but they both are made from 304 stainless. The power brand only comes with a 2 year warranty vs lifetime for the works brand, so you will save about $800

If you plan on installing them yourself, shoot me a PM I did mine on my back on jack stands by myself, I'll give any advice I can remember.

Don't listen to the haters, a set of long tubes on a gen 2 coyote is worth about 20 hp to the wheels running 93. I had a stage 2 ford racing power pack and long tubes and I put down 425 to the tire running 93 on a mustang dyno. A stock gen 2 with a manual makes around 370 to 380, so just a cold air kit, tune and headers got me about 45 to 55 hp

Don't waste the money. Stick with the OEM header and catalytic.
bingo. but I'd gut those cats. 20hp & 1.5 mpg gain is a bonus. MOST of the gains with yer $2k headers are due to a lack of cats, or do nothing "hi-flow" cats

eh? That's a neat trick! I figured they would have given you a rental car and tow, not a whole new engine!
IKR.. I told them the blower was installed by a ford dealer and wanted it covered on both cars. The second car had the blower in the financing too. The gal told me it would increase the cost by about $30/mo for the additional coverage, and then she offered me Mechanical Breakdown coverage.

When I called and asked to make a claim, I told them the car was tuned and had headers. They said they normally deny all claims that the dealer or Ford would.. They called me back about 2 days later and said they would cover it, but only because they sold me the coverage. They literally told me it was my "one and done".. Then they dropped me before my policy expired.

It was a PITA. Took 9 months. The new engine has high CHT's and gets a lot hotter, faster. I had a shop that would drop a ford crate engine into it for a lot cheaper and was willing to deal with Geico but I was an idiot... I was just surprised they would cover it so I left it at the dealer. Stupid move.

As for the rental car, nope. This is not part of your insurance is what they told me. Good thing mechanical breakdown was only $8 month. Odd thing though, they based my deductible on my insurance coverage. $250.

Do you just drive around WOT 24/7? Or is your tune, questionable?
What tune? The Roush tune? It's the only tune the cats ever had.

But yeah, I beat the hell out of my car. The Roush tune went back on when they put the manifolds back on. The Roush tune is questionable.

The engine going? I don't blame that on my tuner. As soon as Roush and the dealer got me a (still not) working engine back in, I got a new tune from my Tuner. And the car is much quieter. But those cats will melt too.

The second set, I may have melted them because I beat the fuck out of the car one day and it got close to overheating. The old engine never did that... Two days later... CEL. On the Roush tune.

Do you think that the LACK of cats and Cat over temp protection could be a reason why the first engine in my car didn't experience high CHT's like the new one does? (Serious question) I beat the hell out of both engines in the summer and the new starts pulling power MUCH sooner than the first.

To the OP... Sorry for the thread jack.

(Serious question)
Cats are one gigantic heat soak IMO. COTP wouldn't make a difference in temps if the CATS aren't there. Up-stream o2 won't get anywhere near as hot either.

headers are back on in August after I pass emissions then. If I haven’t blown the fucking motor up by then I will post back and let you know my results.

You're right headers are a lot of coin for only 20 hp, but as we all know, nothing is cheap anymore. going boosted is the best bang for the buck, but a lot of us can't afford that, so we do what we can afford. A complete setup for boost with all the supporting mods can run up to 15K.

Hey I have a 2017 mustang gt I read in a forum that some o2 sensors go bad quick when running e85 from leakage… They need to sit an angle it said… I was wondering which headers are the best to avoid this… I was thinking of getting bbk titanium headers but I think those were one of the ones that don’t sit at an angle.. so if anyone can help me find some inexpensive headers please let me know..I don’t have 1400 for a set of headers maybe 900-1000 atm
I have 2m fabrications cheaper and great craftsmanship have mid pipe for no cats
