Has anyone tried running their car on open headers? I am thinking about taking my exhaust off to drop some weight and try for low 11s. I am curious if it will help and if tune updates are needed.

You will lose a bunch of torque and maybe gain .5-1 lb/minute at the peak

I may take the car there on the trailer and try it out. I could ditch the tail pipes to drop some weight.

Pull the passenger seat if you haven't already. Probably more weight savings and takes 2 minutes.

If you have an XPIPE midpipe , run open after the mid pipe . You will keep the scavenging effect and the torque .

Seems like a lot of heat right under the car, near wiring, etc.

Years ago I installed some (LPE) LTs on a Corvette I owned, I took it for a drive for fun, without the mid/rear section of the exhaust installed - it was insanely loud (too much for me, YMMV), but the real issue is is smelled like oil, rubber and plastic burning.

Keep at least 3ft of midpipe otherwise you will loose a ton on low to midrange torque. Gains will be minimal unless you have restrictive mufflers on the car.

You'll probably get fresh air hitting the O2 sensors throwing mixtures way off. I had those problems with my pushrod 5.0 with long tubes and F.A.S.T. FI system. Never could get it to run right until I closed up the exhaust system.

Terminate it at the mid pipe, then do a "ghost cam tune" and make a video.:headbang:

Does anyone know where to buy cheap turn downs that will fit the ARH XPIPE?
