Hi everyone
I’m new to this forum just joined today, trying to find out if anyone has a problem with bent valves???

My 2015 GT number five cylinder has bent valves or valve not sure which ones yet, car is at a ford dealer.
When I bought the car it had 95 miles on it (probably abused 95 miles)
Regardless, I purchased a 5 years/60,000 mile extended warranty.
I am over by a 1,000 miles on the warranty, and under the five year!
Spoke to ford and they said to have it diagnosed and that they will offer financial help!
It’s at the dealer as of today

My questions are,
1. Does anyone here has or know about a bent valves issues with the 2015 GT
2. What could be the cause of it?
3. Will ford pay 100% of the repairs even though I’m over on the miles?

I don’t track the car!!!

Thanking you all in advance for all your inputs

You probably had a cam sprocket or timing chain fail which caused the bent valve. That's the most common reason. It's not a common failure though. Ford will not pay for 100%, probably more like 50%, but it will still help a lot since you'll need a new cylinder head most likely.

I had a similar situation with my prior car. It was a 2014 Nissan Maxima, there was a major failure with something in the fuel system (can't remember what). I was about 900 miles over the factory warranty. Took it to the dealership and they said no to a warranty repair, the dealership advisor also said call this number (Nissan corporate of some sort) and they might make an exceptions. I did just that, their first reply was no, I explained the situation again basically just repeating what I said the first time, they said let me speak to my boss and I'll call you back. A day later they came back and said they would pay 50% of the repair. I pushed for 75% and we settled on 60%.

The key to this is:
1) Be nice, I never lost my temper, made any kind of legal threats, or threatened to "lawyer up".
2) If they agree to cover any % at all, ask for more, that is not their final offer
3) Be nice, I can't stress this enough. I got the feeling the rep I was speaking with took pity on me and helped get her supervisor to pay a portion.

Keep in mind this was Nissan and not Ford, so there is no guarantee you'll have the same result. Full disclosure, I had a 2003 Nissan 350Z and I reminded then I was a repeat customer. Not sure if that made any difference or not. End result was I got a ~$2,000 repair bill reduced to ~$900 out of pocket.

Good luck!

Not sure why Ford will offer to give you even a dollar, you are officially over your warranty limit and they have 0 obligation to do so. I can't imagine Ford will just give you money for the sake of being nice or as a gift.

I wouldn't hold my breath on any financial assistance from them, but it will be nice if they do. Just be prepared mentally and financially to take on the whole bill and hope for the best.

Hi
Thank you all for your quick response!

If I need a new driver side head will it be safe to drive with one new head with new springs and one head that has 60,000 miles?

Are saying this because of an experience you had with Ford?

No, but do you know of any dealer/mechanic/company that will give you money towards your repair bill just out of the goodness of their heart?
Builds customer loyalty ... especially after paying for an extended warranty they make money on.

I think you're totally off on that. Car companies often offer assistance if there is a reason for it - here he is still with the 5 year warranty which he paid extra for. GM does the same thing.

mom bought a new four runner in 95.
Changed oil every 3k miles and kept her receipts.
Engine seized at around 61K miles.
Dealer told her no way, its out of warranty.
She kept calmly requesting that it be covered, and provided all oil change receipts, every one.
They gave her a new short block, and did all labor for free.
Yes, sometimes the dealer and or manufacturer will make it right. That is the condensed version.

Hey OP, what were the symptoms you had a bent valve? You didn't say. Curious about when it happened, or how you noticed that. Thank you, and good luck.

Yes, it’s called goodwill and it’s not that uncommon with vehicles manufacturers

No issue with one old head and one new head - but you may inquire how much they would charge to replace the valve springs and keepers on the passenger side. The parts themselves are very inexpensive. If it's reasonable then I would have them do it. Especially if it was one of those parts that failed on cylinder 5.
