Hey S550 folks,

I bought the Tirecare plan from FORD at the purchase. I have 2 wheels that are bent & damaged on my 2016 Mustang Ecoboost PP. I took the diagnosis from a third party and submitted to ford dealer since they couldn't diagnose the wobbling from the rear at speeds more than 30mph.

I dopped the car for wheel replacement under tirecare plan. The dealer got back saying they found that the rear 2 wheels were damaged and reached out to the Tirecare insurance folks. It would cost 1200 for each wheel to replace so instead of 2400 for the 2 wheels, the insurance asked them to repair the wheel. like WTF?

So my question is..Can I say No to repairing/machining the Wheel and push for a replacement only?
If they feel 2400 for 2 wheels is way expensive, can I ask to get paid through a cheque of a fair amount and get a set by myself.

I've had a pretty rough experience trying to get this resolved already. took me 5 trips to the dealer since they kept saying everything was fine until I went to third party alignment and balancing services so I don't want to deal with the repair stuff.

Kindly suggest the best course of action in this scenario. Thanks so much !!

Wheel repair companies do amazing work. My daughter had a car pull out in front of her and had to run a curb to avoid an accident. The BMW wheel was badly bent at the bead edge. A wheel repair company fixed it and you can't tell which wheel had the repair

Good to know cuz I was under the impression that the alloys crack when trying to fix bends.

The devil is in the details of your purchased Tirecare product.
I'd read the contract.

Wow - for that $2400 quote, you could essentially purchase an extremely nice set of aftermarket wheels... then sell off your PP rim/tire combo to recoup some $$.

That’s an awful lot of $$$ for replacements, even through Ford.

You have the 5-spoke (or 10-spoke if you count the splits between) 19x9 Ebony Gloss Black PP rims, correct? Those were the only type offered on the 2015-2017 EB PP. Even sourcing a complete set online, they are just over $1,200 (just rims, no tires) and if sourcing used, expect to pay $800+ for a good set.

Are you sure whomever is quoting you that price for (2) rims is not quoting replacement rim cost for the 2018/19 GT PP2 rims? Those are over $4k retail from Ford, so I could see (2) of those costing close to 2400....

Hi Cobrajet, Big fan of your posts :)
Yes the 10 spoke one's are the ones here. I'm sure he was referring to the 2016 PP wheels but I mentioned that I see them online for 250 a piece.

It seems like the dealer is adamant to try and repair them instead of replacing the wheels and hence the high quotes. I asked him if he was sure that an alloy wheel bend could be fixed and he had no clue.
I have a zero deductible on the warranty but there is a fine print saying that they try to repair and if that doesn't work, tirecare plan will replace.

I just don't wanna deal with the hassle after the repair if I notice the vibration/wobble since the dealer wasn't agreeing that there was vibration on these bent wheels in the first place.

I called up the insurer yesterday and they said, I could go to a BMW,MERC or any of the other large dealers to get it fixed too but they would need the dealer to send pictures of the wheel bend first to decide if it could be repaired or needs to be replaced.

What's the best option in this case ?
Do I take it to another FORD dealer or go to a different brand dealer ?
