Ben builds a bad ass MT-82 for sure. He's basically the authority on them which is why we aligned ourselves to work very closely with him. Our customers have only given us excellent feedback on his transmissions so I'm sure you'll be very satisfied with one as well. We sell Stg1, Stg2 and his Stg3 transmissions.

Here's a great link with a lot of good info about Ben's products. If you have any questions or need help ordering one up feel free to give us a shout. Links to purchase each stage is located on the Info Page below.

Kong,
That makes sense. I was thinking more in the neighborhood of $3000-$4000.
It would seem that the cost difference was closer when you try to add up the cost difference in a GT350 with a Tremec and the rumored price of the upcoming Tremec Mach 1. I am sure at $5400 that Ford has a high profit margin..
But, it is what it is...Wonder how the Calimer would compare with the Tremec?

The Tremec in the gt350 is not the same as the tremec Magnum XL that most lean towards for the 15-17s. The quote i gave is for the Magnum Xl. That includes, driveshaft, clutch and what not to get it in and running.

I don't know what the gt350 tremec costs but I know its not as strong as the Magnum xl.

The Magnun XL is a T56, no? It's an older design. Then came the TR6060. And the GT350 is a TR3160, which is a less beefy TR6060. The T56 was always labeled as 'agricultural' when cars that had it were reviewed. I had it on 1 Vette and a GTO, and a TR6060 on another Vette. The T56 was robust, but not that pleasant to shift IMO. The MT82-D4 on my Bullitt feels immensely better, so I'd go with the Calimer, which should fix the weak links on that tranny. The TR-3160 actually weighs a little less than a MT-82 (like a pound or two), so not beefier, for what others have said. But who knows. And only the newest version on the Mach1 has rev-matching. So it's either that, or the beefed-up Calimer, if you want to retain that feature.

I ran a T56 in blazer with an LT1 that was a smooth shifting tranny. But tbh I had rebuilt and upgraded the synchros and shift fork and had a B&M shifter. But it had as good a shift feel as my 19 gt does with the steeda tri ax shifter.

I just had the Stage-3 MT-82 installed. Ben Calimer is great to deal with. Very easy to get hold of. Spoke with him several times over the phone and he was a great help each time.
