Ummm... I'm not being funny... The security package locks down the steering column a minute or so after you shut the car off with a fairly loud clunk.
If you have the security package then the steering wheel locks and is unable to be turned until the car is turned back on. There is a loud audible "locking" noise when this occurs. If "steering wheel lock" is not the correct term, apologies, but if it is not, then I honestly have no idea what is.What is a steering wheel lock?
I wondered what that noise was. It's a loud clunking noise when you turn the car on. Or turn it off. I 100% agree I'm just not used to having a car with a touchpad. So I might just have to get used to it.If you have the security package then the steering wheel locks and is unable to be turned until the car is turned back on. Anyway, the OP is in no way acting as if there not being an audible confirmation for the touch-lock is a big deal, nor am I. I would just, personally, prefer the same audible confirmation that every other car with a keyless entry/lock system I've been in offers.
Honestly, I'd probably be 100% okay with there being no "beep" if it were a physical button as opposed to (basically) a touchpad. I don't trust touchpads to register the "touch" 100% of the time, thus I'm left questioning the lock. I'd rather be paranoid and hit the key fob every time and not have someone able to get inside my Mustang on the off-chance that the door didn't actually lock.![]()
This has literally never once occurred in any car that I have ever owned. The larger worry is not that you've originally locked the vehicle when leaving, but how often does your vehicle unlock because the button on the fob accidentally gets pressed within range of the vehicle.
You can have all of the lock confirmation you want, but if there is no indication that you've unlocked it by accident the issue is moot.
As long as no one opens the doors within ~45 seconds, the car will lock itself again, whether you are are in range or not.I was hoping the wink would reiterate that the comment was dripping with sarcasm... not everyone's steering wheel locks so we aren't familiar with what that sounds like. (in addition to steering wheel locks formerly being integrated with a column shifter and mechanically engaged when shifted to park -- not available on a stick shift).

I don't trust the touch pad either, especially now that it's winter and I'm usually wearing gloves. However, I just look at the exterior mirror, and watch for the signal to flash indicating it has locked. Usually I can hear the locks click, but they just started building a new building across the street so there is often to much noise to be sure I hear the click. But watching the mirror never fails. If you have the security package then the steering wheel locks and is unable to be turned until the car is turned back on. But the windows and trunk don't reclose...As long as no one opens the doors within ~45 seconds, the car will lock itself again, whether you are are in range or not.
OMG, this forum is amazing. I'm going to try this method! After you touch the handle, hear the click, and the lights flash, just belt out a loud bird-like "CHIRP!" or "BEEP!". Problem solved...AND......it's a great way to meet people!
Is this new for the 2018s? I don’t believe my 2016 automatically locks the doors. As long as no one opens the doors within ~45 seconds, the car will lock itself again, whether you are are in range or not.
It should... it's a setting in the information display. "Auto-relock".Is this new for the 2018s? I don’t believe my 2016 automatically locks the doors.
I have no such settingIt should... it's a setting in the information display. "Auto-relock".
The only lock setting I have is "mislock" and the auto lock/unlock which is when the doors lock when you start driving and the doors unlock when you shut the car off. Mislock is the double honk for when the car is attempted to be locked with an opened door or trunk.I have no such setting![]()

EDIT: There's nothing about auto-relock in the manual unless I'm missing it: http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/601991/ford-2015-mustang.html?page=59

Auto Relock
If you press the unlock button on the
remote control and do not open a door
within 45 seconds, your vehicle locks and
arms your alarm. You can enable or disable
this feature in the information display. See
