This was essentially my story. I was vacillating between and EB PP Premium and a Base GT, and told her what I liked about each of those. She convinced me to do like Deion Sanders and get BOTH. So I got a Premium GT and I love it. It'll take months for me to learn all about MFT, but it works well right off the bat. The Redline seats are awesome and this is probably the nicest car I will ever buy in my life. Just once, I did it all.

I've test driven a lot of the base and premium models between EB and GT when I was deciding, and there wasn't enough of an upgrade between the interiors to justify the price hike. $4000 for heated/cooled leather seats, toggles for drive modes, with the MyFordTouch system? The only thing I'd be missing is the drive modes, as the cooled seats felt odd and you can get heated seats installed for 300 bucks. The MyFordTouch is a catastrophe so I am actually happy missing out on that. The base and premium models have the same materials everywhere but the door panels, things only start to change with the premier trim option.

No one here will convince you. I was all set and ready on a GT Premium, now I've ordered a base Ecoboost after driving everything and seeing what's happening with the aftermarket. Go to a dealer and sit in both without them there and think about $4000. Is it worth it? For me, no.
Completely agree. I picked up my base GT with performance pack and cloth Recaro last week. This is the way the car should be. The hard plastics are top notch, just as good as in BMW and Mercedes.

I could care less about heated and cooled seats, projection ponies, fancy mood lighting, leather and my ford touch. Oh and guess what, I think the base rear diffuser painted solid black looks better than the two tone premium diffuser.

Just look at the GT350...base interior, cloth Recaro, and solid black diffuser.

LOL, I would have done that, too, 20 or 25 years ago. I had an 89 LX 5.0 that was modified to within an inch of its life, and which my kids could hear coming a half-mile away. It was a riot. "The Zoom Car," my boy named it.

Now, I think what I have (a leather-lined executive express) is just the ticket. The GT350 will be awesome on the track but it will be a very strong taste day to day. Obviously daily driver is not the market Ford is shooting for with that version, but it's what I want.

The base rear diffuser and bumper skirt are all body color on the base cars, aren't they? Not black? Or are you saying you painted yours black?

I went with the base gt because to me all the electronics and gadgets are simply fluff that add weight and makes me slower. I did add the pp. More importantly my out the door price (including tax, tag and registration) was $35,500.
For me it was about the bang for the buck factor. Base EB with performance package, tax, tags, title on the road for $28,000.

I drove a premium eb and base gt before ordering.

I didn't get the premium because there weren't enough deal breakers.

I don't like leather which is big for me. I also don't care for the stock seats.

My order ended up being eb base, pp package, and recaros

Mine is awaiting shipment so should be here in a week or two. Quick question for base GT owners. Does the symbols and numbers on the buttons on either side of the 4.2 inch screen light up at night. I was looking at the GT350 interior pics and they have the same ice blue color of the instrument panel. If so that is so cool, I thought they were just painted, but the only interior night pics I've seen were of the MFT.

Here's a night shot (though a V6 not a GT, will be the same):

Thanks, that's what I was hoping! Lit up like a cockpit! Nice.

I agree that the MFT looks nice and modern, but I actually really like how the base dash setup looks, especially at night all lit up. I know there is no 'my color' in the base config, but the blue is really nice anyway. I'm a little concerned about the base stereo but I honestly don't listen to music that much when I'm driving anyway. And if I get the base it will be a GT, which comes with it's own custom sound system, lol.

Are you all sure about that? I think it is the same 6 speaker system until you get to the premium 9 and then another package to get the 12. I would like to hear comparisons between this base system and the one in my 2011 Mustang.

I have sat in both base and premium. The two reasons I would want premium would be:

1. Replace that hideous calculator screen looking head unit.
2. Get the black plastic piece in the back of the car. There is black plastic on the front and sides, without it in the back it looks unfinished like they forgot to add it to the car.

With that being said, I don't like leather in cars. I don't like how leather wears vs cloth. I don't like what the leather often looks like after 5+ years. It looks better when its new, but not when its used. I also laugh at the fact if you look at the window sticker it says "leather trimmed".

In the end, I could not justify (for me) $4200 after tax for a bigger screen and a piece of plastic. For that kind of money I could buy a entirely new bumper, new head unit, and still have close to half left over.

I'm leaning towards a 400A. I drove a 300A for an hour and 15 minutes, and then drove a 400A for an 1 hour and 45 minutes. The 300A was great, but I honestly felt much more comfortable in the Premium seats vs the cloth. And I really like the look of; 1) the toggle switches, 2) MFT, since it's in my Fusion, and 3) the plastic insert with the defuser in the Premium's rear bumper is way sexier than the base model's rear end.

Otherwise, I really liked the 300A a lot. It was mostly cosmetic stuff on the Premium swaying me.

Hey Malik,

I'm not an owner yet, but I'm definitely buying and have driven all 3 models and also in base and premium and premium 01As. I was considering a V6...

After being in a premium and then going to a base model, there was no way I could pull the trigger on a base model now. The diffuser is really nice, and the interior with the better materials is just top notch. The toggles and other features are just worth it to me.

Also after being in the 01A with the BLIS, those side view mirrors really bug me now with the BS little mirror. If I was to get a premium 200 or 400, I would swap out those side mirrors immediately.
It's actually the other way around for me. I like the 01A packages, but prefer the blind spot mirror over the BLIS system. I like being able to quickly look at the mirrors and actually see what's in my blind spot vs an indicator just telling me there's something there.
