Are you all sure about that? I think it is the same 6 speaker system until you get to the premium 9 and then another package to get the 12. I would like to hear comparisons between this base system and the one in my 2011 Mustang.
I was referring to the exhaust system. :headbonk: Should've maybe been a bit more clear on that. You're totally right about the stereos.

Has anyone - anywhere - ever actually used the keypad buttons to make a phone call? Or for any other reason? They just seem completely useless to me.

The only things I could think of besides phone calls would be direct tuning of the radio which would be kind of handy, or if they are used for radio station memory. They are odd though, no denying.

They serve a purpose.

I used to drive a 1987 Toyota Corolla, an absolute stripper model. Lowest trim you could get -- had an aftermarket passenger side mirror because the original car didn't come with one. There were all of these blank squares of plastic on the dash, and I could never figure out what they were for, until I realized that they were the place-holders where switches would go on higher-spec'd cars. And every time I sat in that car, I thought "man, I wish that I would just be able to have had a car with those options spec'd so I didn't have to stare at the placeholder plastic showing me what I don't have."

The numeric keypad is there to help you alleviate that "rental car" feel of blank plastic.

It can be used as a dialing pad when in phone mode, or it functions as 10 radio memory slots.

Mine is awaiting shipment so should be here in a week or two. Quick question for base GT owners. Does the symbols and numbers on the buttons on either side of the 4.2 inch screen light up at night. I was looking at the GT350 interior pics and they have the same ice blue color of the instrument panel. If so that is so cool, I thought they were just painted, but the only interior night pics I've seen were of the MFT.

Strangely enough if this were what the base interior looked like on the GT, I'd be sold. Getting rid of the chrome bits along with this 'brushed plastic' dash just look really classy to me, and match better with the base head unit.

Frankly the fact that the same basic interior will be available in the $55K GT 350 makes me feel better about getting the base model in the first place.

Got about 1000 miles on my base GT PP now.
Would have more but I'm waiting on tires that you can trust during a cold snap :).
If I could swap for a premium for free I wouldn't do it.

Prefer cloth, less weight, less stuff to go wrong and if you are worried about the stereo then you didn't buy the right after market exhaust.
If you don't like the rear diffuser (I do) that has historically been a cheap aftermarket fix.
Mine has variable performance modes (I run a gear higher and don't hammer it if the roads are slick).
Other thing I'm sure the cloth recaro's (same ones they are putting in the 350??) are pretty cool but the stock seats are pretty cool too, I think it gets down to what feels best to the individual.

The next person will explain why they think the hoity toity options are the only way to go, and they probably will be about as right or as wrong as I am.

It is really whatever floats your boat.

For me it's not as much about what floats my boat as it is about what boat I can afford to float. I'd rather have the Premium car for sure. It's between EB Premium and Base GT more or less.

Bottom line though, the more time that goes by and the more I hear others experience and consider my own 'needs' (read: wants), I feel like I could randomly pick any Mustang configuration - any engine, any trim, any options, any color - off a lot and be happy with it.

Yep. I think I'm also going with the EB with PP. I might wait though till spring with the weather looking like it's going to be bad and maybe by March we'll have some changes to options to combat the Camaro. After being in both, I really can't do the base. I want the leather and I want the rear diffuser.

I would like the GT and can afford the GT but I asked myself what I was looking at before this and it was an A3, A4, A5 and the EB has been compared to the Audi A5 in a few reviews...so that is sorta making me sway towards the EB now.

I'm in exactly that frame-of-mind actually; I had no interest in a V8 muscle car until this Mustang came out, and I was only looking at turbo 4's and 6's before (WRX, S5, etc.). It's really only through this forum that I've even begun to consider the GT, and I would kinda hate to lose all the premium features for it (or spend an extra few grand for them on top of the $6K premium for the V8) when I'm rarely going to make use of all 435 HP anyway. I'm still leaning towards the EB for sure, and every time I see a driving or owner's review of it, my inclination is strengthened...

Yah if you don't need the HP, the GT is overkill for many people. ARound here in NOVA/DC/MD, it's bumper to bumper a lot.

I really want the premium features and if I get the GT (which I could) it's going to push it close to 40K. I can get the GT grill aftermarket and then basically have everything I want (other then the hood vents).

And yah Malk, same with me, I wasn't interested in the V8 till this forum either. I do have a friend with a 2011 GT V8 and she's going to kill me if I get the EB....lol

I do wonder what Ford has in mind with the Camaro launch and possible half year updates to counter.

If you get it, you will use it, because it is there.

Not saying that is a good thing, but sticking your foot in it is addictive.
It is a why pass that butthead in 5 seconds when you can do it in 3 kind of a thing.

I'm in the process of finalizing a deal now. I went with a DIB GT manual base w 3.31 and the security package and spare tire. I have no intrest in the premium features other than navigation. I already have a sub/amp/signal summoning converter i'm taking out of my F150 when I trade it, so no need to waste money on speakers that are coming out anyway. I've driven a '15 GT with 3.55's in it and I didn't like how it felt constantly wound up at city speed. These cars come with more than enough for me standard. Way more than the '14 GT base another dealer was trying to sell me. I would like SirriusXM, but not enough to pay for a package I don't want.

Many Mustangs
My plans are an Auto GT Base.
Then the boring stuff
Halfshafts , drive shaft and loop, Circle D Converter, SFI flex plate
Then a boring turbo system, fuel system upgrades, get her tuned on E-85, and add some suspension upgrades for drag racing.
Oh yea my favorite stripping a new car interior for a 10 point cage.
Oh I am having flashbacks from my 2004 cobra project.

I just couldn't justify driving an auto GT. I feel it's somewhat sacrilegious.
