The toggle switches on the premium affect the throttle response.

Which is actually part of the drive modes. So since the base has no toggles to affect the throttle response, the base does not have drive modes. It the only has different steering feel and of course the different traction control/advanceTrac

I would't be surprised if the premium model just retards the throttle a little bit in normal mode. The ones I've test driven definitely felt a bit more sluggish compared to the PP base model I bought that does not have the toggle switches.

I will say my base pp stock throttle response seems better than my 2011 gt did. Not nearly as much lag.

It is definitely not the same. Premium models change throttle response between sport+, normal and snow/wet mode. Even more notable is that for auto cars it dramatically changes the shift points when you change from normal to track or sport+

The snow/wet mode is what got me through a NE winter storm on the summer tires (in addition to me driving 40 mph with hazards on on 70 mph speed limit roads, adding 4 hours to my drive... uuuuug!). I probably won't "need" it again but I am driving around in a car I spent Capital One's money on and I really don't want to be crashing. So I'd insist on having that mode. It is very helpful in helping you manage throttle from a 435 hp car. I appreciate it being there... it basically slows everything down which eliminated tire spin in careful driving.

At the same time I don't have the modes and utilizing sound judgment and proper use of the go pedal helped me with the only bit of snow we have had (all after I bought the car).

It could be he doesn't own the S550 which makes referring to the OM a bit difficult.
I thought High Voltage was answering strengthrehab:

If you can tell me how to get to sport+ and track mode on my base pp car I'd appreciate it.

Yeah for the snow/wet modes just don't press the pedal as hard and you are all set.

Base S550 GT:

Default at every start-up:
- Traction Control On
- Stability Control On

Single tap: "Traction Control Off"
- Traction Control Off
- Stability Control On

Double Tap: "AdvancTrac Sport Mode"
- Traction Control Reduced
- Stability Control Reduced

Press & Hold: "AdvancTrac Off" (e.g. Track Mode)
- Traction Control Off
- Stability Control Off

AdvancTrac helps to maintain control of your vehicle on slippery surfaces using Traction Control and Stability Control by applying brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine power.

Traction control helps to avoid drive wheel spin and loss of traction.

Stability control helps avoid skids and lateral slides.

On the Base Mustang, this is all completely independent of the steering setting.

just driving home from work I switched in to sport mode and advance track off. Seems the throttle response is more aggressive. Probably all in my head.

Base GT drive modes are accomplished with your right foot.
This.

A lot of vehicles with driving modes are just gimmicks anyway.

I don't mind it when they control complete Ecu mapping and suspension stiffness and transmission. it's nice to have an eco highway cruising mode and a performance mode.

I really hate it when they screw up the throttle mapping to make it feel sportier. I just want a 1:1 ratio between pedal and throttle plate. I have yet to take a look at the throttle maps for the mustang and see how they are.

How is everything selection there. If you can tell me how to get to sport+ and track mode on my base pp car I'd appreciate it.
Turn your traction control and stability control off. Steering wheel to sport and there you have it.
