Track mode gets sharpened throttle response for a more direct feel with the throttle, and traction control (AdvancedTrac) intervention is reduced and tuned for track usage.

So to answer your question, Yes it is possible that the Premium equipped GT has the potential with Track mode engaged to beat the base GT if all other variable were equal, but only if you were driving past the limits of the car and it was continually intervening, therefore slowing you down overall in the Base GT.

In the grand scheme of things, on the street or at a drag race, where 99%+ of Mustangs are driven, you won't see any difference in performance between the Base GT and Premium GT.
I would argue premium is slower all else equal because it is heavier

No....its the same car. Track mode doesn't make the car faster. Tell me how better throttle response makes the car faster.

I think this is the resoning: Quicker response, gets you on the throttle that much quicker out of the corners. Albeit, the extra weight may make this moot.

This pic helped me a lot from the manual on the PP base and how to get through the modes.

From the other thread it seemed to boil down that premium offer slightly different tune maps and disable TC, but you can't completely shut off ESP, only make it less nannyish.
Base you don't get the special map tunining, but you get to completely disable ESC and TC I prefer the 2nd choice if I can only have one.

so it seems there is no difference in pressing the button twice or starting the car and not pressing the button at all.....Both trac and stability are enabled. Am I missing something?

Sorry , I posted for the PP GT. Hit it once, no TC.

If you hit it twice quick, puts it in Sport which keeps traction and esc on, but makes it less nannyish.

If you hold it down it no TC or ESC. This is the base PP. Not 100% sure if it applies to non PP base. Someone would have to check.

Each mode is confirmed on the dash info center, though.
