Can I just tuck the pigtail under the boot and not use it?

Yes, of course. Good luck, have fun!

The adapter and ball I used cost me $165.00 yesterday at my Ford dealer & they cut me slack big time on the bill.

Was having problems with the easy entry seats + battery going completely dead after sitting for approximately 2 weeks (Stored for snow to melt and streets to get dry)...This is why during everyday driving only problem was seats because it would recharge battery not allowing me to notice I had a problem...It fooled them the 1st time I took in for seat repair, they ordered a new module to fix seat after not being able to fix it.

The weight of the Ball would push the disengage button just enough to activate system into thinking someone was in vehicle + the boot was pulling on stem making it on the edge of "OFF" or "ON"...They noticed the "P' on the dash would go from Dark to amber with just a slight touch...They informed me when it's dark the battery is being drained due to some sort of activation.

I'm gonna contact the manufacturer and let them know the shaft needs to be longer so boot won't pull down the already overweight knob.

Dang I noticed that sometimes the gear selector light on the dash would sometimes go off and on as well due to the weight of the knob on the adapter. A quick jiggle usually fixes it. I think I may take mines off and put the oem shifter back in. Don't want to deal with battery drainage. :(

I have been having the same issue, but its on a DD so it hasnt caused any headaches. Im looking for a helper spring to add around the shifter botton so it wont be so much weight pressing it down.

Sometimes, when I would open the door to get in, the seat would move forward thinking I was already in the seat.

Just got off the phone with sick speed...

They are making the stem longer so the boot won't be pulling down. I told them about the Spring idea under the boot, he's gonna run it by the people in charge...I told him the button is very sensitive almost like a hair trigger and combined with the weight + boot pulling it's always on the edge of on & off....I'll try and keep this thread updated.

@Husker, thanks for being the pioneer on this for the rest of us man. I've almost pulled the trigger for this mod. Looks like I'll wait a little while and see how it works out.

I went to the local Ace Hardware and looked through the springs...After sitting in the parking lot and experimenting with different lengths, diameters & strength, I found a solution (Well, at least, it seems to be working)

I used two garden hose washers, at first, one on the bottom other on top, one is better. Washer needs to be on top because the spring tries to poke through.

Nice! I was just gonna try to find a small one that fit just around the black piece, but that looks good too

It helps with the boot staying up and hiding the space between shaft/stem and boot.

The black button goes all the way flush with the silver post when foot is on brake.
