Australian VIN numbers

My dealer contacted me today with my Stock Number and ETA of 26/12/15.

No VIN yet.

Can I look anything up with this stock number or do I need VIN?

How long after getting stock code does it take for the vin to arrive?

I was given a December eta.

I tried getting my vin both from ford aus through facebook and my dealer. both have come back and said the vin wouldn't be available until the car is in Australia.

I have the NSC code is there someone here that can provide my vin if possible? Also how long does it take for the vin to arrive after the nsc code is up?

If your order has been allocated a VIN number then your Ford dealer will be able to get it from the official Ford website that has all the information about your order. He should also be able to tell you the approx arrival date when that information becomes available.I got my VIN number from my dealer about a week ago as well as the approx arrival date a week before that. Remember that I also placed my order way back in July last year.

Your car may not have a VIN yet. The NSC is just a stock number which could be issued anywhere up to a few months out from the car going to build.

The VIN is normally assigned just before it gets built. The dealership can find it if available.

in the absence of any reliable info i finally decided to reach out to her.

A week later this is now what i know:

Hello Brett,

Thank you for reaching out to me! I checked on your order and it’s already in production to finish building today. The system has not updated to show it finished, but it should in the next day or so. It’ll then be released to the body company (upfitter) to finish the assembly process. Then returned to the plant and released, and put out to await shipment. It shows an ETA of 12/7/15 to the port in Baltimore, MD, which is subject to change. Keep checking with me. Have a nice weekend!

i checked etis and nothing (yet) but atleast i know its real and will hopefully make it through the rest of the production process and (fingers crossed) on to the port on time.

my dealer has said my current eta is Jan 2nd (absolutely under no illusions that the car will arrive then) - based on what i now know I'd say end of jan (at best) but atleast i know its gonna happen...

Great info to be gleaned on this forum and my thanks to those who have researched ways and means of extracting info from Ford... after weeks of trying my VIN in the lottery of possible web sources I now have a build date of 14/10/15 from Etis and a dealer estimate of late November for delivery in Adelaide - after 18 months of waiting it is great to finally have some real info coming through!

Ordered 14/4/2014 so it has been a long wait... seeing the mustang in the flesh a few months ago made it all worthwhile - great they also stayed with their on road estimate, $60k for the GT was my original unofficial estimate.

Hi Michael, was your car purchased through BS Stillwell, Medindie by any chance as if it was I may be the reason for your call today, as using all the info I have learnt on here I went in to the dealership and even told them some things they didnt know. This god send for those of us waiting and trying to work out the communications from Ford !

Have been working on extracting info for some time, nothing from Stillwell even though I was expecting an update this week. Frustration led me to try "one more time" with the web pages this forum had posted up and much to my surprise I actually received some detailed information.

I am surprised the dealers just "wait" for events to unfold even when timelines do not make sense - maybe because I rarely deal with car salesmen - my experience is once the contract is signed they are not interested in further expenditure of energy... should have known!!

Excellent Michael. I was in there this morning speaking to the guy I ordered my car through and asked him to get on to VISTA and check out some stuff. Thats when YOUR car came up with a delivery ETA. I am sorry to say but I honestly believe no contact would have been made to you from them if i didnt go in armed with specific checks I wanted made which led to finding your car coming in as the first car - all learnt from the people on here ofcourse.

Funny because the dealer principals car (atleast I guess it is his) is due in January to have a look at as I asked to see the trim quality we are getting etc. I am guessing your the guy they made mention of on the reveal night they had the Blue Convertible in - their first Mustang order? Will keep an eye out to see when yours actually comes in and sneak a peak if I can...

I find it interesting that you mentioned the dealer principals car. Others have mentioned that their dealer principal was getting a car and someone mentioned a demo.
I was distinctly told by Ford dealers that Ford Australia had forbidden any demo cars and dealer principal cars in the first few batches, they were to be for paying customers only.....another pile of Ford horseshit....

I never get contact from Stillwell unless I send at least 2 emails... just a lucky coincidence I checked the website this week. I honestly think they just rely on their own database and cannot think beyond the tools they are familiar with.
Glad you have prodded... My only concern has been "lost" orders in the system, I expect verification at this late stage and the answer was "we don't know" - 4 week before it is delivered?

When do do you expect your drop top? colour?
