I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the YouTube channels aren’t done as leases on most of the cars and weren’t actually purchased. Obviously there are some that are the enthusiasts and have some that are truly there personal vehicles.

I agree, he at least has the purchase history to warrant his allocation. I’m just not a fan of his (or most YouTubers). All indications are is that he will at least drive his, which is good. But 99% of the YouTubers that get them will drive them a few times until their views level off.

Then the car will disappear from the channel until they’re able to sell them (assuming there’s going to be a 2 year hold period, similar to the GT). At that point you’ll probably see a good amount of them going up for sale, auction or as giveaways in exchange for buying shitty merch. They’ll need to recoup their cost as it likely won’t be making them money on their channels at that point. Schmee is probably going to be the exception to that, but there won’t be many like him in the social media side of things.

That’s more or less where I was going with my comment. Ford will see a fair amount of these hit the market at the same time and I don’t think that’s what they want.

Just my opinion, others may see it differently.

We’ll see if actually being brand loyal and purchase history means something. I’m not holding my breath though. Atleast he has purchased other Ford products. My purchase history for personal and my company is north of what his is, but I’m severely lacking in the YouTube viewers department.
Purchase history should matter way more than clicks/views. Get these cars in the hands of those that are true fans/enthusiasts and not those that just want the views then move on to the next thing. Have I mentioned how much I dislike the “influencer” era?? 🤭

Very likely. With the exception of those that end up being giveaway cars. Those are probably bought outright, with that cost being covered by merch sales.

I guess I’m old school and just don’t see why people need to be famous just to be famous. In the grand scheme, who cares??

You gotta drive on track every chance you get! Take it to a few premium car shows to make the Ferrari guys feel jealous. If you’re not trailering it to a track every weekend though you’re not doing it right.
I can guarantee you no Ferrari. Lambo. Bentley, RR, Pagani person will be jealous it's a different league all together. If they want one they will buy on secondary market at 2-3 times the price just because it's been validated as an investment at auction, to be vacuum sealed and warehoused after a couple of drives.

They will enjoy the amazing active suspensions and interiors as well as the enormous power of their Ferraris etc, daily, and not care how much they depreciate.

They will have to wait 2 years for it

They do.... and put it above everything else that is important.
Youtube dicks will never find the limitations of the GTD... you however, might. That's what scares them.
Did you see it a Goodwood ?

Compare it to the GT350R

GT350R all day, everyday.

Both great videos. I will say I don‘t think that event was a great way to display the GTD. R’s always sound magnifacent. 350’s to with the delete.

I hope we get some good video of Tom’s GTD (🤞) flying around Daytona. That thing is going to scream in the straights. Would love to see one go around Indy too. I would make the drive down for that.

Ugh. Another YouTuber I’m not a fan of. I can really see all these YouTuber allocations really backfiring on Ford. I hope I’m wrong…
Ford would rather give the allocations to these YT meatheads because they get “exposure” for Ford…. The louder the meathead screams in their ridiculous vids, the more they “promote” themselves (and the product), the more ridiculous stunts they can pull off in public, and get “thumbs ups” from their sheeple followers - that’s all that matters to Big Corporate.

IMO there should not be an “allocation”. It should be free market that if people have the $$$ to buy, then take their secured deposit and sell it to them. If those people were lucky enough to afford the vehicle and bought it, but want to sell it or flip it 2-3 months later - LET THEM…. they paid for it!

This whole “you’re special” because you’re an influencer and “you’re not” mentality is just utter BS.

They just need cash for when the person who ordered two years ago sells it a few weeks or months after showing it off to all friends, or can't pay for it when it arrives, or just goes to secondary market and gets one the next day.

In any case they likely have 4-7 other cars in the $200K plus range so it makes no difference.

At the end of the day it's a financial equation.

Ford proved with the GT they're happy to sell a limited run of a hand built car to collectors and influencers and count on those influencers to act as additional marketing for the company at large as opposed to having to spend those marketing dollars directly. You can't hand build them fast enough to meet demand (which is a wild statement to say about a $300,000 car) and you're going to lose money on every one of them that you sell anyway, so this at least offsets some of those losses by leveraging the social media clout of "influencers" to get advertising out of them.

At the end of the day Ford built something like 1,350 Ford GT's between 2016 and 2022. What was the real percentage of those that went to "influencers" who were not also dedicated Ford collectors and owners? I mean I think that maybe the total figure of "meathead screaming" Youtubers who got one is at most 135 or 10% of the total production run, and I honestly think that figure is probably twice as high as it actually was. 7,000 people asked to buy one and it took Ford 6 years to build 1,350 so there was no way to make all 7,000 people happy.

The conditions of buying a GTD are that you can't sell it inside of 2 years. The only avenue of selling the car inside of the 2 years is offer it back to ford first (right of refusal). Ford will have a lien on the car and the conditions you agree to on the contract state that if Ford has to sue you, you will have to pay attorneys fees. Ford will sue up to the value of profit from the sale and the monies recovered will be donated to a charity.

So no, because of the examples of what some people did with their GTs, it will not be possible to buy a used GTD inside of 2 years of when the car was delivered.

FORD didn't build any of those. Nor are they building the GTD .
