For one thing Tom, your knowledge and experience is a whole lot more than the average person. IMO, YT provides an almost unlimited source of helpful information. And beyond that immense category, there are zillions of clips with useful information on damn near any topic.
I love to learn new things so for me, YT is a winner. As for the morons, (and I bypass them,) they're just people who are attempting to earn a living. I'm with you on the usual, "Please Like and Subscribe," but what irritates me the most about them is when they tell you to "hit that notification button so you don't miss any of their posts." A wee bit less than honest IMHO.
No offense bubba, I got a big ol' grin when I pulled up your clip but I'm curious, why did you bother to post a 3-second vid? My guess is that it was to make it easy for the GTD "counsel" to see via a hyperlink rather than attaching the clip to the application email? In any event, I do believe that is THE shortest YT clip I've ever watched. <smile>

That was a clip I had that the camera captured by accident after I did my application video. The beach was beautiful that day and I wish the clip was longer.
As for the youtuber comments, what I speak of is that a lot of the people who are so called enthusiasts are really self proclaimed influencers who are in it to self perpetuate their channel by collecting revenue to advance their overall status amongst the community.
I didn't say I hate youtube, but instead the ones who use it for their own gain or agenda.
Remember when goose took his car up to 178 on a public road? He is a self proclaimed influencer. Him doing that essentially gave the seal of approval for any of his followers to do the same. He does what you and I do for a living. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.
I think you get my drift.

Given his purchase history of 3 Ford Focus RS's, two transit vans for their shop, a GT5000 CFTP, his Ford GT, and a new Dark Horse and that fact he averages around 200,000 views per video I'd say he's as qualified to get the allocation as anyone else and will do more to grow the brand identity than someone who's going to buy one and stick it in their garage.
Like with the Ford GT program, I'm sure there will be allocations given to people who don't deserve them on both ends of the social media spectrum. I'd rather they go to youtubers who'll drive them than collectors who will hide them away in their pole barn with 40 other cars.

I agree, he at least has the purchase history to warrant his allocation. Iām just not a fan of his (or most YouTubers). All indications are is that he will at least drive his, which is good. But 99% of the YouTubers that get them will drive them a few times until their views level off.
Then the car will disappear from the channel until theyāre able to sell them (assuming thereās going to be a 2 year hold period, similar to the GT). At that point youāll probably see a good amount of them going up for sale, auction or as giveaways in exchange for buying shitty merch. Theyāll need to recoup their cost as it likely wonāt be making them money on their channels at that point. Schmee is probably going to be the exception to that, but there wonāt be many like him in the social media side of things.
Thatās more or less where I was going with my comment. Ford will see a fair amount of these hit the market at the same time and I donāt think thatās what they want.
Just my opinion, others may see it differently.

Videos like that stick with me. But the general garbage influencers produce has little to no staying power and the vast swath is mostly just obnoxious.

You gotta drive on track every chance you get! Take it to a few premium car shows to make the Ferrari guys feel jealous. If youāre not trailering it to a track every weekend though youāre not doing it right.

Weāll see if actually being brand loyal and purchase history means something. Iām not holding my breath though. Atleast he has purchased other Ford products. My purchase history for personal and my company is north of what his is, but Iām severely lacking in the YouTube viewers department.
