If you’re keeping the oil jets and you’re not spraying the motor with Nitrous then it’s money and time wasted. The oil jets do a superb job at cooling the underside of the piston and lubricating the cylinder walls.
If you were installing new pistons and they were factory coated then you’ve got some cool bragging rights at your next park and talk event !

Action Jackson is doing a superb job attempting to spend and waste your money for you.
this motor is intended to go boosted so go back and think about all your answers again. He's planning to run Stock GEN3 pistons in a booster gen2 application. And you're telling him not to check the ring gap i have never heard dumber advice

So he now needs your toaster oven piston coatings because of possible future boost.

FYI, the gap was set by a very capable person. No need for redundancy.

I'm going to assume you don't have any proper measuring tools.

Best thing to do if you are going to assemble it yourself is to use plasti gauge. It should be close enough.

Yes you would need to put the crank in the block then add the plasti gauge then torque the main caps. Then take them back apart, measure the plastic. If the clearance is in range clean the crank and bearings and assemble with assembly lube. Do the same for each rod journal.
So I completely torque down the bolts to the torque spec? Would that not mess up the bolt stretch for final assembly?

This, I wonder why he took it apart.
Learning experience and the bearings weren't replaced, so I thought I should at-least replace the bearings while I have the motor basically apart.

No need at 26k when you’re attempting to do an econo build while still attending college.
In hindsight maybe you should’ve left the rotating assembly as is.

Yes you have to torque them to spec. or you won't get an accurate reading.

I would ask Mike how many times the bolts were torqued, and if they are factory bolts. My gut says they should be Ok.

I bought brand new bolts. Should I just use the old bolts to measure and then use the new bolts in final assembly?

YES,
Now you’re thinking like a pro engine assembler even if you never built a Coyote before……
Lmao sounds good.

So finish cleaning rtv. Try to clean the cylinder walls. Install bearings and check clearances. Reassemble block. Then when the heads are on run some water through the block to clean out any debris?

that is stupid. there is absolutely reason for redundancy. whatever happens to the engine is on him. can't go back later and check. do you grab a gun and trust that it's not loaded if someone says it's not? fuck no. you check.

You need help or at minimum a time out.

anyone that recommends not checking rings, knows absolutely zero.
I recommend things that can help his engine build they might not be necessary but they can improve it. but checking the rings is absolutely necessary on any build
