Sounds good. I’ll check gaps and make sure they are good.

What range should I be looking for? They are gapped for boost but I will be running N/A for the time being.
You should just double check with the person you purchased the short block from before you risk damaging the rings removing them to check something that was checked and gapped by a very capable person.

Stock pistons, stock rods. I am replacing the bearings with a bearing kit from MMR. Besides bearings I am leaving everything else alone.

I trust the seller to gap the rings properly. He seems like a person who would do their research on what to do

if he is rebuilding the engine he should have zero problem removing and checking rings

i don't think you understand how important it is that they are not under gapped. over gapped a little no big deal. i don't trust anyone, ford, L&M, rpm, all have made mistakes. there's no way in hell i would put the engine together without knowing. just because he says gapped for boost don't mean sh!t. gapped for how much boost?
it's your engine im just letting you know it's a bad idea.
i have 3000hp in my daily driver. see how easy that was. people lie. they lie even more when they are trying to sell you something.
i would not bet that he ever gapped them. is he saying that he pulled the engine, took it all apart, gapped the rings, reassembled it and ran it? if so i call B.S i don't know anyone that would do all that work to a running engine and not upgrade something. just my opinion.

Should I worry about making sure the oil passages are clear?

what you should do in take it to a machine shop and have them hot tank and clean it if you have any doubts. if you think is good and just want to be sure then you can remove all the oil plugs and clean out the passages. i don't think it's a problem if it really has under 30k miles

Just worried about small debris getting into the oil passages for the main bearings.

you can remove the oil plugs and clean out the passages. put the plugs back and shrink wrap the block when you are not working on it. where are you planning to assemble it?
