It's the same basic engine that Ford & Mazda co-developed 20 years ago. I don't know Mazda's designation for it, but they've both used it for quite a while.

Thanks! 20 years of production... You would think the bone yards would be full of affordable (mazda) motors and engine parts!? Wonder where I can find a cross reference of what parts (if any) are interchangeable??

I have no idea how to cross-reference the two, but Ford 2.0 blocks are not difficult to source.
