I hate dealer stickers of any kind. I always tell them don’t put anything on the car what so ever. A license plate frame is ok because I can take that off without leaving any scratches, glue residue or damage.

It lets you close the trunk without touching the paint. It's an upgrade, I tell you !!

I despise stickers, and have always warned the sales guys that if I find one on inspection before signing the paperwork, it will need to be removed and I'll need to be good with the job before anything changes hands.

Still, it's better than back in the 60s / 70s when they were hard badges, often pin mounted in holes the dealer's prep crew would drill.

Are they really that stupid? The most prone to get scratches on the rear of the car and they put a sticker on it!

My thinking exactly. The plate frame is enough.
The problem is, especially with enthusiast cars, these dealer folks have no regard or knowledge or consideration (and management has no directive for this) for the fact that maybe, just maybe, make an exception for an enthusiast vehicle and do not place the hard plaque.

This.

As far as new cars and dealer decals, I always request that they're not placed on something I ordered, and I've never had a dealer balk at it. Otherwise I'll remove them myself once I get the vehicle home when buying off a lot.

Must be east coast thing. Never seen that in California
Are you kidding? I live in the Coachella Valley here in California. When I bought my 19 they did it to me. The bumper was clean but while I was finishing with the sales paper-work they said they were just cleaning it up. When they finally brought the car out to me there was now a decal on it saying "Palm Springs Motors."
