i've been looking at trying to get my mt82 gen 3 into a procharger/vortech setup, and i'm pretty new at this and had a few questions about what things i would need. i'm looking to sit around 800 wheel, just wondering if i could have some input on some things i would need to buy to make that power optimally, would i need a new clutch, axles, or anything like that? and any good recommendations on parts to get?

I'm not to well versed into the boosted world. But from my understanding is that if you're going anything over 750whp you'll need a fuel system that supports E85, some injectors, spark plugs, and pump E85 in your local area. As well as a tune from someone that'll support it. I believe you might be able to hit the 800whp a little easier with a Paxton/Vortech rather than a Procharger, but of course that is all hear-say. Go with whichever you feel most comfortable with if you're installing it yourself. I will say, I have a buddy with a Procharger and the added belt system probably puts a good bit of stress on the crankshaft. I have no evidence to back this up but this is my assumption, might be some worth looking into a MFP Crankshaft support if going Procharger.

I just finished my Paxton install, similar goals as you (700-800 whp/93-E85), A10 2020 GT. Went with a beefcake special, with the fore return system. Call him and talk to him, he was very helpful to me. If you go with the Paxton kit, I have a list of other optional items I received from a forum member here I can send to you. I did get some half shafts from someone local, and I also have a BMR kit from beefcake in the mail as well, at some point I'll get a driveshaft and that should be everything (until the motor and trans need an upgrade, hopefully that won't be soon).

When going boosted, especially at that power, you’ll want to upgrade some things.

axles - due to the sloppy IRS the stock axles are prone to breaking as they take a lot of shock when on a manual car

IRS - You’ll want to upgrade the components in there such as a cradle lockout, differential bushings, vertical links, toe links

Clutch - This depends on how you drive in my opinion. My stock clutch was fine after a year of 700+ hp abuse but i waned to set myself up for success. Do with an RXT or our LPX (grip like an RXT but easier on the trans)

Fuel - Depending on the fuel you plan on running will really determine the components you need. If planning on running e85 you’ll need a full fuel system and bigger injectors such as ID1050x, bigger fuel pumps like Walbro 465s. If you’re on pump gas you can get away with a BAP but be weary of it at higher boost.

Tires - Depending on if you’re going to go to the track you’ll want a drag pack with bias ply tires to help absorb the shock. On the street i would go with a pilot sport for a regular tire and a Mickey Thompson SS for a drag radial. Also wider wheels will help you out. I ran 19x11 on my 17 with 325 MT tires and i hooked ont he street with over 800hp.

if you have any question or help give us a shout at Lethal Performance and we will get you squared away.

First the procharger is capable of higher power and makes boost sooner
Second not all procharger kits add a belt system. Do your homework

where the unit makes boost / power is dependent on BOV, pulley, and/or wastegate setup. There are Paxton’s with a tiny pulley and wastegate that have a completely different torque curve and power delivery. The oil fed Paxton is capable of 1000+ and not significantly more expensive. I wouldn’t necessarily say there’s a debate of procharger vs Paxton. At the end of the day supporting mods and the driver will make a much bigger difference as both units and upgraded units are very capable.

Clutch and axles really come down to what you're using the car for. Stock clutch won't like clutch dumps and burnouts. Stock axles also won't hold up to hard launches at the track. For the supercharger kit check out my custom built packages.

All of my Beefcake Specials will come with a 1000cc injector and fuel pump booster for pump gas, if you plan to run E85 we can swap the fuel pump booster out for a dual pump return style fuel system. All that you need to add to my Beefcake Specials is a tune and you're ready to go.

Any of the kits will get you in that 800 range you want to be in for sure as well.

Hit me up and we can get you dialed in!

You have to compare blowers that are close in size. I’m saying that evenly matched blowers with the same pulley/waistgate/bov the procharger makes more power and sooner because of the gears inside and the max rpm’s

I just did this dance recently with the On3 single turbo kit. While the price was very attractive at the start, there are must have things for support mods:

1. OPG/CS (Debatable but insurance is nice)
2. Clutch
3. Fuel System + Injectors
4. Suspension
5. Tires

Not to mention I have never replaced a clutch, OPG/CS, or done a turbo install in my life and have just done suspension work and bolt on stuff. This will be my first stab at what I would consider a major project. Still not building an engine but I'm sure I will screw up the vacuum lines.
