Car is a 2020, 10R80, PP1

The front is necked down, but I can't tell if the back is a slip fit or if it just butts up against the rear pipes.. If not, thinking about having an exhaust shop expand it to slip over the rear for a better seal.

The only install vid I could find online was one from LMR, which was from nine years ago and was the old style.

Thanks for any input.

Its a butt connection but it seals perfectly. The neck down will not cause an issue on a N/A setup.

you could have it welded or expanded easily, if you have an active exhaust make sure that there is enough clearance between the exhaust motor connectors and the frame.

Also once you put it in you can't go back to the stock resonator without welding. Just because of the way the pipes bend at the cut point.

Good info, thank you.

I guess the band clamps work pretty well?

They're surprisingly good for how thin they are. Very solid once they're all torqued down.

Its hard to get a perfectly square cut but they'll kind of form to the pipe and take up any error you may make when you cut out the stock resonator out.

We got rid of the neck downs on my X-Pipe.
More flow, the better.

Awesome.

Any issues with the clamps coming loose over time or leaking? I read one post where someone said they needed to tighten them occasionally, and eventually they got to the point where they were tightened as far as they could go and not tight enough.

I suppose that's time to buy new ones, but curious about the quality of the band clamps on the Ford kit, especially since most band clamps say to use them on slip fit connections.

I wouldn’t waste your money on a x or h pipe, just go get a cat back exhaust … or if you have active exhaust get the LTH x pipe with mid pipes that’ll connect right to your stock axle back and it comes in 2.75 so you’ll gain some size too

I had them on my diesel for 10 years, they never stretched. They ended up rusting through, but not stretching. I am in Texas, so that helps, but when the exhaust rusted through, and I personally replaced it, the new ones had a super tiny leak, only noticable because of a small amount of black coming through the hole. Never heard it.

Long way of saying, you will likely be fine with the clamps.

I can confirm the "cry once" thing here, plus you can drop the whole stock system and keep it in case you ever want to go back to stock. Just find a good spot or two to cut. Look at aftermarket kits for an idea of the best places to make cuts that can be clamped back together... I mean that assumes you have somewhere to store that.
