500 looks better, sounds better, has a much more engaging and fun engine, and is WAY faster up top. Preferences I guess.
As much as I love my Mustangs, and I'm not blinded by brand loyalty (we're consumers, we go for the best products...for us). The ZL1 1LE is the better option for the money, and it's not even close. It looks menacing, handles incredible, it has great power, manual option, and it is a special car without question. The biggest issue of the ZL1 is getting an allocation to get one, and visibility (but it's forgiveable for this beast).

If money were no object, the GT500 all day.

And just for shits and giggles, the Dark Horse R is a joke. Ford is officially being ran by comedians now.

The fact that the competition is gone is a huge issue for S650. It will really languish now. The Camaro being so good in 2016 raised the bar that brought the kind of improvements we saw in 18. No PDR is the best small example...that should have been in the 18 refresh.

Who cares??

Seriously, some of yall are too wrapped up in what other people think of your car.

Let it go....
Yeah, the detractors can say whatever they want about the Mustang but I love it and would never buy a Camaro. Interesting that they never pointed out the fact that it takes Chevy to use a 6.2L to beat the 5.0L Mustang, nor the fact that the Mustang blows the Camaro away in fuel economy. But I digress... I love my car and that's all that matters to me.

DOHC vs OHV. Apples to oranges. Different ways of getting to similar power. Though the 5.0 is physically larger than the 6.2, so I’m not sure your argument holds up when comparing physical attributes such as displacement.

Also, since you brought up fuel economy claiming Mustang “blows away” Camaro: Camaro V8s get better mpgs than Mustang V8s. EPA ratings:
ZL1 auto: 16 combined (13/21 city/hwy)
GT500: 14 combined (12/18)
SS auto: 20 combined (16/26)
GT auto: 19 combined (15/24)

Car and Driver also noted the ZLE got better mpg than the GT500 in their tests.

Those are subjective, of course, so I can’t say you’re wrong. I do love the GT500 looks and sound. Not sure I love it more than the ZL1, they’re super close in my eyes. The LT4 is raw and engaging in my opinion. And yeah, an extra 110 hp with superior intercooling does wonders up top for the GT500. Can’t go wrong with that!

Anytime somebody starts mentioning their competitor in their advertising they've already lost. If you're confident in the product you sell you should sell it on merit, mentioning the other guy is admitting you're number two.

Supercharged my GT and most of the bells and whistles that I wanted. One or two more to go but next year I guess lol. Anyways. All for less than 100k CDN.

Will it beat a gt500? Dunno. Don’t care.
Will it beat a Camaro ZL1 1LE? Dunno. Don’t care.

In order to see either top trim perform at that level, and not lose your drivers license, you need a track. So go. Go and spend all that money. I’ll take the money I saved and take all the women out for fine dining and drinks while those guys struggle to make the car payments just to tell all the other dudes at the track how mighty their horse power numbers are. I still have enough juice to step up to 99% of the cars in the street and don’t have to eat Raman unless I want to.

Comparing paper numbers is useless. It’s just another Johnson Measurement! Besides I’ve seen a 1000hp car wreck while street racing. Numbers meant squat when the car didn’t finish the quarter mile. He lost the race and the car.

Lol, pretty sure most people buying cars like these aren't struggling to make car payments, or have car payments at all

I’d love to hang out with your circle then cause people in my circle aren’t in that boat.

A guy I worked with bought a brand new 2021 GT500 and drove it for maybe 3 months. Stored it over the winter and then realized the payments were limiting him. Traded it and another car for a German luxury sports car and now has money for food and other things. He is quite successful career wise.

Young man I met at a local car meet got himself a Red Eye. Beautiful machine!!! Crazy quick! But when the mortgage renewal came up he had to dump it cause it was either the car or the house (and the wife with it).

Hell I’m doing moderately well myself and have almost no debt! I wouldn’t want payments on a GT500 or a 1LE and I’m in decent shape financially. I mean a carbonized grey gt500 would look amazing in my garage but would be a dumb move at 160k CDN right now (one in Barrie Ontario for that price. Dealer is high as a kite).

Point being you will find more people faking it till they make it then you will ballers buying toys. Also, we (muscle cars and enthusiasts) are a niche market! Most people whose wallets I envy tend to buy exotics and not a Ford or Chevy product. I’m a fan of both but I said what I said.

FORD ,does the same thing it is called marketing .
FORDS problem is its greedy dealers that still bend over buyers.

Ford dealers aren’t the only ones that play the markup game. Some of the new Z06 markups put the GT500 markups to shame

Camaro SS in auto format uses cylinder deactivation and the GT does not and to me that is a huge difference speaking as someone who had AFM on my 5th Gen SS. It was awful and very noticeable. I had it tuned to remove it.

My GT beats it in mpg with all 8 compared to that Camaro in 4 banger mode. I realize the 6th Gen uses the LT1 which is a better motor now but cylinder deactivation in any fast car is no bueno. :)

I looked at the SS and the GT and I personally only cared about 1/4 mile times - nothing else. After driving both my personal taste led me to the mustang vs the marshmallow.

The SS absolutely is NOT faster in the quarter then the GT A10 PP1. That is the reason I bought the GT. GT ran consistently 12s and under. Which by the way is as fast as the Mach one .. at least 2018 to 2021 GTs which is all I researched ( I don’t know about 2022+) The SS is 12.2 or above. so let’s call BS on that one..

SS: consensus
Ran consistent 12.3 @114 on sport competitive mode (3 times) and a 12.2 @114 suspension on tour, track mode.
GT: consensus
clocked a time of 11.83 seconds at 119.51 mph. That was the best time of the day, but the guys report that the Mustang GT consistently posted high-11s with ease. The test vehicle was a brand-new, bone-stock Mustang GT equipped with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission and the Performance Package.,

11.8/9 vs 12.2 so the mustang in the quarter ..”crushes” the marshmallow..

But ford was and is doing it to almost everything they sell. Trucks check. Car check Suv. Check .
Get back to me when any other brand is bending over 95% of buyers .
