Bet you never had to spend a day or work week driving through NYC traffic (BQE, 287, LIE, Tunnels, etc.), you'd eat those words
Or he's never been in a premium High Performance car.

A Ferrari doesn't come with a stick for a reason.

It use to, I'd only get an older one personally, but since it wouldn't be a dd, it would make sense.

I honestly use to get his sentiment when I was younger (first learning manual), but working all around NY grounds you

Doesn't mean you can't drive a manual, just gotta be lucky to avoid traffix

Can't wait to get it, I can already see peoples opinions changing once they drive it

I posted some pics up on social media to drum up some ideas for a name. One of the responses had me rolling:

Not a solid negative comment, but it's as close as I've come. Plus it's funny as hell and I wanted to share. Overall I see LOTS of neck breaking to scope out this pony.

WOW...You learn something new everyday! this is hysterical...

:lol::lol::lol:

I found the brain-dead Jackalope.

Fun fact, the Mustang was originally sold as a stylish and economical way for women to get groceries more-so than a performance car. Go watch the original '64 launch video. ;)

They had an all-out campaign that targeted just about everyone. They had the v6, which was targeted to a variety of people. But they also had 2 v8 engine options, with a 3rd v8 option added less than 6 months later. They said at the time it was similar to apple phones in that people waited in line for them to come out. And six months later people would sell their first to get the updated one.

Statements you've likely heard before...

"It's a pretty good car, in a straight line at least."

"Bad ride, bad suspension, bad handling, bad engine."

"Mustangs can't corner."

"LOLCANTTURN"

"That's a lot of power, but good luck getting it to the road."

"Power is nothing without control, bub."

And so on. An open question to all of y'all who own the new S550: have you any stories of your Mustang's capabilities taking guys who spout things like the above by total surprise, or even convinced them to consider buying a Mustang? I figure there's got to be a good few out there--god knows there's a certain negative image that's planted in a lot of folks heads. (I've personally run into a guy who thinks that the engines in the Mustang and several other American cars are still cast iron and OHV.)

Yes, there is one controversial debate that's repeated ad nauseum, shall remain unmentioned, and to me personally is RIDICULOUSLY UNIMPORTANT. :headbonk:

I shoulda figured as much. Though I notice a lot of those are more about the looks of it rather than the handling stereotype. (For whatever reason, I legitimately don't get the "it looks like a Fusion" criticism. I just don't see it.)

Yes, I know, not everybody gets as incensed about this kind of stuff as others. Some dudes just wanna ride what they love and to hell with what anybody else says. :headbang:

Welcome!
Thank you!

All these years

WOW...You learn something new everyday! this is hysterical...
"The more things change...the more they stay the same!". Well after 50 years, there's still a 6cylinder engine in the Mustang. :eyebulge: Some guys that claim to know cars sometimes make the comment about "too bad it's a six". One night I had enough of some young Fox bodied kid spouting off and as we left the meetup he tried to leave me at a red light....so proud of my little Cyclone dusting his 4.6 v-8. 300 Horses is 300 Horses!

I seem to always get comments from the oblivious strangers. What really gets on my nerves is the the way their attitude does a 180 when I tell them that I have an EB and explain 4 cylinder. This is pretty much how almost all conversations have gone.

Them: Wow, that is a really nice looking car! Is that a Mustang?!?!?!?
Inside my head: I'm not sure why you just asked that, there's a pony on the darn thing!
Me: Yes
Them: V6 or V8
Me: Neither, its the EcoBoost.
Them: ???
Me: 4 cylinder turbo
Them: ???? (Still confused for a second) Why would you get a 4 cylinder Mustang? Isn't that slow?
Me: It has more power and torque than the V6.
Now comes the comment that makes me want to punch them...
Them: You should have got the V8.
:frusty:

My personal favorite is my brother-in-law. He has a 93 Mustang GT and is completely convinced that his 5.0 is in every way superior and faster. You know, because its a V8 so it must be way better.
Dude, your 5.0 (excuse me, 4.9) has like 210 HP tops....

It's going to take a long time for the 4cylinder turbo to get the respect it's due by the general public. Most people exaggerate their knowledge of cars, sex, and money...but really know very little. Just saying...

Some guy with a minivan at a gas station asked me what year mine was the other day, and then when I told him it's a 2015 he proceeded to tell me that it looks just like the 2014.. I was like "ehh not really they actually look pretty different".. he just made a face like was agreeing to disagree and I let him go. Kind of annoyed me that someone could be that dumb

Aside from the usual "Should've gotten a V8", I've heard very little negative comments that I can remember. Sometimes though, if someone asks what I drive and then I say its a S550, they ask what engine. I say its a V6 and 80% of the time, complete interest is lost upon them. Doesn't really bother me but I find it funny really.

And I've only had one person ask me, "Isn't that slower than the V8?" :tsk:
Like really?!
