Stock MPSS (starting at 28psi) and stock pads. WGI is hard on brakes...I used up >50% pad life over the course of the weekend.
I'll be at WGI with Chin on July 5-6. I'm bringing extra brake pads for all four corners . . .

What does chin stand for? I'd like to see if there are any slots still open.

"Chin" is short for "Chin Motorsports." They run premier private track days, including instructed groups for beginners. Quality drivers, quality instructors, very fast cars, lots of track time, all on the best tracks east of the Mississippi. A lot of private teams will use their events as test 'n tune setup events.

If you haven't run with them before, and you expect to run solo / non-instructed, you'll have to demonstrate your track experience and get a check-out ride with an instructor. All the contact information you need is on their website.

Send the event coordinator an email. They've had a few cancellations and might have signed up another instructor or two . . . you never know.

If you've been to WGI, then you know it's worth the effort. If you haven't, it should be on your short list.

The OE pads are very good, but they abrade quickly (like Hawks). One way or another, a fresh set of pads is in my near future.
No fade with the OEMs? I'm going to try them but I'm skeptical as I've never come across an OEM compound that can be abused lap after lap without overheating.

We know that brake "fade" can result from several factors other than the compound itself. But, keeping things simple for the moment, the OE compound provides excellent initial bite and good modulation, but poor longevity. They do not fade quickly, and maintain overall performance for general lapping days on track. They are not a race compound, but if you can buy them at a reasonable price (~ $190 USD front pads), they are a very good track-capable AND street-capable compound; if you don't want to swap pads between track and street.

They'll wear more quickly with a MPSC2 or better tire.

I always run Castrol SRF in my track cars. Glad to hear they are semi decent, it's not the money that puts me off a race compound, it's undoubtedly the swapping of pads - an extra hour of fiddling before and after every track day, which is time I don't have unfortunately. I'll be running r-compounds and the track I'm on murders the brakes so we shall see :D

Definitely. I will give them a try and report back. I'll be fitting the JLT duct kit too.

I daily my car and track it. These pads are the best stock pads I've ever run.

The OE compound (Ferrodo) is solid. You might find the limits on tracks with multiple aggressive braking sections with little relief in between. But for what they are, I have no complaints.

A bit off topic....but where do you guys go to get your R's aligned? I'm not sure if all Ford dealers are the same, but my local dealer doesn't have an in ground rack and was not able to align my car. Do you find service dealers (regardless of brand) with in-ground alignment racks and assume just provide your alignment specs to the tech?
