I'm seeing a trend on here, UPR catch can without upgrading the check valve...
Anyone else?

UPR, I am not badmouthing your product, mainly badmouthing the advice on here. People say, got smoke, go double catch can and you will fix. All that extra fuel and oil vapor introduced into the intake manifold is gonna equal a bad time... bad AF, bad blow by, BOOM...

Wow, tell us how you really feel! So, in your opinion, a catch can is dangerous? Enlighten us a bit further, please.

I'm extremely shocked to read it was covered under warranty especially knowing the car was modified and the ecu was flashed . Anyway good to hear that , saved you a few grand easily in parts and labor
Shouldn't be shocked, this isn't the first case or the last case, people need to be more educated about fighting for their rights to mod the car and not be held responsible when factory issues fail. This is how it should be period!!!!! Do not let dealerships push you around, and fight for your rights.

What I think he's saying is that a catch can doesn't magically make oil dissappear from the intake, it just lowers the consumption not eliminating it. he didn't say anything about it being dangerous...

I wouldn't necessarily say it's a trend. The other recent motor that went had the dual valve catch can with the factory PCV gutted. This sounds like he was using just the single catch can with the factory PCV still in place.

This situation sounds like what happened to a buddy of mine in his turbo 3v. Had it tuned at 8psi but we were racing the night before Thanksgiving and somehow hit 9.5psi due to the cold weather, and windowed the block. Did the log look good?

I looked earlier and mine is a 09/2014 car too. I just crossed over 37k.

What are you looking for to figure out the build date? I never looked into it but I'm curious.

Mine was purchased in May 2015 and I can't imagine it sat on a lot for long.

Wow OP, sorry about your luck. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. I can't believe you got a data log of the event, what are the chances... I bet ford would love to see that!

Good luck with the new engine, I don't think the outcome could have been any better, all things considered.

I would like to know why Adam Tune+ has never mentioned engines with upgraded rods, etc. If this is fact that these new engines are "safe", why not share that information? You are highly respected as one with a plethora of knowledge, participates, and contributes to this forum and instead of speaking up about this engine information, you boast and pat yourself on the back on the many Ecoboost engines you have tuned with no fails. I mean no disrespect but I think I speak for many others when saying, please do tell what you know on this subject. It would be highly appreciated whether we're a client or not. Thank you sir.

Adam has mentioned new part numbers from Ford for months. There is no actual data on what was changed or if the new parts are "upgrades" to some of the older stuff. He has been talking about it for months.

OK my bad, Adam Tune+. Granted I don't read every single post on the forum but it seems like I'm not the only one that is hearing of this for the first time. I would just assume if this information is being mentioned, then there would be actual data and (hopefully) Ford would address it and yet, when my car was at the dealer last week, everything checked out fine and there were no listed recalls or TSB's for my vin.
Just yesterday I gave a thumbs up and received one back from an elderly lady driving a S550 black GT and I highly doubt she's on a Mustang forum. Point being, how many EB engines have blown up that are not being mentioned on a public forum? (that was a rhetorical question)
Seems like I'm driving a ticking time bomb. Can't wait to get rid of this thing.

What I find strange is that this engine blew at 27K. Certainly it was pushed to some limit prior and survived. I would think if there was a part design flaw it would have showed earlier. Perhaps Ford understands there is a problem and maybe sympathetic with our problem in the future.

You have more of a problem in your head then you do in your garage.

Glad they're replacing it for you OP.

Seems to me like it's just the teething problems of a new engine, especially considering there's been revisions.

I wouldn't consider the Ecoboost 2.3L flat out crap over this, stuff like this can happen to a first model year with a first year motor.
