Have a PP GT, went with Penzoil Ultra 5w20. I drive in Florida, hot weather and humidity, should I use a higher weight? Say 10w30? My other car uses 5w30, it's a vq35hr nissan engine, hasn't done wrong by me, M1 EP changed at 5k miles religiously. Car has 56k now, not a drop burnt.

I would personally step up to a little bit thicker oil since you are in a hot environment . 5w30 should be fine unless you beat it real bad. 10w30 won't hurt anything either but personal pref. A guy from SVT performance forum gave his recommendations on oil for the coyote, he said 10w30...

I just sold my Infiniti with the 3.5hr loved it and always used amsoil 5w30 without any issues.

Link didn't work whatever. His name is unleashed beast. He also claims the ford 5w50 has tested to a 20w50 when new in bottle. That's too thick even though it shears down. I mention this because some will say you have to use 5w20 but if that were the case then the track pack cars of 2014 would be using it as well but they don't.

I have an Ecoboost and it specifies 5w-30
I am very hard on my cars so I want a more substantial oil. I was working for ford when the 5w20 spec came out and nothing in the engines had changed. In fact the bearings in the coyote are the same that the 4.6 uses and that took 5w30 in some cars. This spec is for fuel mileage and that's all.

This engine had some revision though, I am not sure how this would affect the oil that would run best in it. I'm leaning towards 5w30, I just honestly don't want any issues and feel comfortable with 5w20. I don't beat on my car, but I do use it as a mustang. I won't track it or take it to the 1/4 mile for launches, just regular driving with spirited sessions.

The vq35hr is great, so is the vq37hr, the vq35de rev-up not so much.
