Does anyone know where one might get discounted pricing on Amsoil 5w50?

I think it is $20 a year for a preferred customer account. This allow you to purchase at the "dealer" price. I think you sign up online through amsoil.com. You will save at least this much on your first case of oil.

There is also an option for 6 years at $100 if you pay it upfront. Note that I haven't been using their oil in the 350 yet, still sticking with the Motorcraft.

Lurker is correct. The preferred customer account is the way to go. If you can buy it anywhere for less than the prices you get at the preferred customer/dealer price, someone is selling to you at a loss. I swapped to Amsoil at my first oil change. No reason at all not to. It carries the Ford spec. Sticking with Motorcraft just cause you're scared to death of your warranty buys you nothing. It carries the Ford spec...yes, I did say that twice.

I'll be swapping to Amsoil at the next change as well.

Amsoil Preferred Customer

Amsoil 5w50
I just ordered a case of Amsoil and became a preferred member. When ordering a case of oil, the savings from being a preferred member pay for the membership and then some.

I put you down as a reference Bill.

Also, your GT350 page is helpful.

Cheers.

I don't want to hijack too bad, but is there a specific reason you guys want to use amsoil? As i understand it, they've switched from using just group iv (full syn pao) base stock to being a belnd with group iii (refined crude). Just trying to get an idea of reasoning.

Not in their Signature Series oils, which the 5W50 is. They have a few different lines.

Yeah i used the SS 5w20 in my GT before getting the Shelby. I just couldnt find a definite statement on the amsoil website about which base stock they use. I decided to run redline in the Shelby after comparing some specs. Sp far no consumption, but no track time either

Just throwing my 2 cents, I noticed a slightly higher oil consumption with Amsoil than with Motorcraft. Nothing drastic, around 1/4 quart per 2000 miles.

I had to top off almost 1quart to bring it back to top level with Amsoil, and I only had to topoff 1/2 quart max with Motorcraft. Same season, same car; Motorcraft is 3000 miles later.

It could be due to the engine sealing better as miles accumulated ?
