Your review is exactly the opposite of what most mustang owners like and dislike. Usually the only thing that is liked is the engine. No one likes the bath tub feel of sitting lower in the car and the lack of visability with the cramped feel of a small car!
I know, even the Chevy guys don't like it as a car. Everybody likes that engine, even the ford boys. But I'm comparing my modded coyote to a stock LT1, and that's not really fair either.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but people keep comparing the OPs choice of a 1LE vs a GT missing that he'd be getting the Performance Pack Level 2. While it wouldn't bump the horsepower, in theory (until one can be tested), it should handle significantly better than a stock GT and is an unknown compared to the 1LE.
Not missing that at all. Once I see either "GT" or "SS", the next thing I look for is some indication of 'manual transmission', followed by something about the suspension and the wheel/tire package. "Exact" power & torque specs are at best next, call it fourth place.

So let's assume the handling is a wash, GT PP2 vs SS/1LE.
OP is still looking at that $6k higher price plus the wait both working against the Mustang. That's the situation that was dealt to him, not the more ideal case where a PP2 GT was sitting in the Blue Oval showroom across the street from the 1LE and going for similar money.

I really like the camaro, Ive had 4 f bodies. I like sitting low and more reclined. I also like the power delivery of the pushrod. For city driving I never had to wind out the motor to get to the meat of the power. At the same time the 5.0 feels nice in the high rpm. I just could never chose the SS due to the very few bad qualities it has. I cant stand the looks, in general all of chevys are just ugly to me. And I already hate the visibility in the mustang so the camaro would be even worse. Also the LT1s lose power over a few thousand miles due to the carbon build up which is annoying. I hate the clutch in the mustang too, its way too grabby and the bouncy rear suspension is annoying too. However the 2018 GT fixes all the things I dislike about the 15. More power down low, smoother clutch, longer gears, magneride. Before the 18 there were reasons to getting a camaro over a mustang. Now that its out, the only reason is price. Wait 6 months to a year and the price reason will disappear as well.

The Camaro is attractive if I'm being objective. However, the 5.0 definitely is a better engine to mod. No question about it. The technology is not even comparable. Parts are much more available and from a larger assortment of vendors. Chevy needs a 6+L engine to do what the 5.0 can do now. But for me personally, the bailout did it. I'm in a high tax bracket and it galls me that the govt gave 82B to bail GM out. And the truth is that the USG never got all the money back. But, whichever way you go. I hope you enjoy your ride!

Thanks for the back and forth guys. I think I'm going to pass on the Camaro. while I can't deny it's a great performer the A pillar and high door sills will just always annoy me, and even at a 6K cheaper price I feel like I'll still wish I had gotten the Mustang in the end.

Visibility is pretty important, if not crucial to driving a car. Having to rely on cameras to see anything behind you isn't acceptable in anything that isn't being remotely controlled or completely covered in armored plating.

Yeah I've driven both before. I was thinking on if I could see pat the bunker viewing in the Camaro, but I just can't. I really like the exterior, but the inside the ruins it to much for me. I know that I'll find myself wanting to get out of it despite how much I like the look on the outside.

Got you, it’s not for everyone.
I got my 17’2SS 6m with magnetic ride and sunroof and 1200 miles certified for $34k, was a no brainer..

It may relate to the fact I'm also on the shorter side, I'm 5'7". If I was taller maybe it wouldn't bother as much.

I had a Camaro and dropped it for a mustang. I preferred the infotainment and shifter (not clutch) in the Camaro. I also liked how it did not have as much body roll. I did NOT drive a 2016 (I had a 2015), but I do like the way they look, respect the engine, and think the interior is really nice. Outside of those very small things, I prefer the mustang in EVERY way. I grew up in a GM family, but I enjoy all muscle cars or really sports cars in general. There are just too many intangibles that the mustang has that make me want to go for drives, just cause. I didn't have that in the Camaro.

For what it's worth though, the 2016+ Camaro (not 1LE) can actually pull a .98g, where as the mustang with the PP can only do a .94. If you really want, I would consider a Camaro without 1le, but with the upgraded suspension against a pp Mustang.

You are like me, as I am only 5'8". But I didn't like the Camaro inside or out. I didn't even need to drive it.

Looks are completely subjective, as is most of what I'm about to say I guess, but the Camaro exterior just doesn't do anything for me. I don't think it's an ugly car, I just don't look at it and think, "now that's a cool looking car."

I haven't driven one, but I have sat in them 3 times, and every time it was unpleasant. I'm 6' 1" and I hated the sightlines too. It's just too restrictive, and it felt dark and cramped. I had plenty of head room, and yet felt like the roof was right on top of me. Having the side window start at my chin just seemed odd, and added to the tight feeling of the car. On top of that, I thought the center console screen looked odd, the instrument cluster looked like an afterthought, and the large vents in the center stack seemed out of place, but I don't know how well they work.

For absolute performance, the Camaro is clearly the winner, and the better deal, but for only a few tenths off here and there, the Mustang seems like a much better fit for my tastes. I'm sure Camaro owners could get even a little more performance if they stripped out the sound deadening, back seats, passenger seat, A/C, etc., but the vast majority don't because they're willing to sacrifice that performance to have those comforts, and I'm willing to sacrifice just a little bit more to have the additional comforts of the Mustang.

I may be going to the dealer today to put a deposit down an a PPLv2, but I also just found a dealer by me with an 2018 SS 1LE for just $42k.

That no only gets rid of my wait, but also, is about 6K cheaper. I've always been a Ford guy(aside from current car) but am I nuts for considering the 1LE instead or just logical?
I read this through to the end and I see you've decided against the Camaro at the moment. If you are somewhat torn and the decision isn't a no-brainer, my recommendation is to wait and actually drive a PP2 once they can be found at dealers rather than ordering sight unseen.

Another benefit of waiting is to learn more from other people's experiences as the cars start being delivered.
