Before you buy, actually go sit in a Camaro, they suck for seating position and visibility. If you do not mind not being able to actually see the lane next to you, do the Camaro. When we mentioned that I could not see out of the rear window the salesman said, "If you get the seat just right it is ok." Yeah, I walked out of the Chevy dealer as fast as I walked in.

Personally I think the Camaro may have a slight edge on the mustang for appearance. But that all is trumped by the comfort and the visibility and usability of the Mustang. I sat in a Camaro and could not wait to get out. Imagine placing a large box on the floor, and then getting in the box with only slits to see through.

Also I think there is more than one 1LE... 1LE used to be a V8 only option, which more or less started life in the late 80's as a Brake option with some other performance goodies like a performance gear, and a special fuel tank, designed for racing. The 1LE F-body back in the late 80's was the car of choice for the Players series races back in the 80's and early 90's. But now I think you can get the 1LE from the 4cyl up to the V8... So don't be dazzled by the moniker, it is not like it used to be.
V6 and V8 only.
Compared to the SS 1LE, the Camaro V6 1LE:
Has less potent brakes
Has a less capable limited slip differential, but not the electronic unit found on the SS
Lacks the Magnetic Ride Control
Has smaller wheels and tires
Offers the Recaro performance front bucket seats as an option, while the SS 1LE has them standard
Offers the head-up display as an option, while the SS 1LE has the feature standard
Doesn’t offer an auxiliary engine cooler and transmission oil cooler

In all honesty, I was a GM Guy, I never owned anything but GM, My Wife has never owned anything but GM, My Father worked for GM as an Engineer, My Father In law worked for GM, My Grandmother worked for GM... I drove the Mustang and Fell in Love... Now I have one in my stable... With my Firebirds and Riviera.

^Well I was being facetious about the kart since he continues to imply that anything more than a Miata or BRZ is a waste for AutoX, which I disagree with.

I really like the camaro, Ive had 4 f bodies. I like sitting low and more reclined. I also like the power delivery of the pushrod. For city driving I never had to wind out the motor to get to the meat of the power. At the same time the 5.0 feels nice in the high rpm. I just could never chose the SS due to the very few bad qualities it has. I cant stand the looks, in general all of chevys are just ugly to me. And I already hate the visibility in the mustang so the camaro would be even worse. Also the LT1s lose power over a few thousand miles due to the carbon build up which is annoying. I hate the clutch in the mustang too, its way too grabby and the bouncy rear suspension is annoying too. However the 2018 GT fixes all the things I dislike about the 15. More power down low, smoother clutch, longer gears, magneride. Before the 18 there were reasons to getting a camaro over a mustang. Now that its out, the only reason is price. Wait 6 months to a year and the price reason will disappear as well.
Ugly Chevy owner here. Mine has a few thousand miles, and I haven't noticed a power loss. Can you cite your source?

I have looked it up. I've read a lot about it. But, I haven't found any documented cases of significant carbon buildup or power loss on LT1s with a few thousand or 30,000 miles.

Not a severe issue, but still something to keep in mind as you accumulate miles. There are some design fixes that I have heard about, but none seem to be in production yet. The dual fuel injection system, while complicated and expensive, is the best solution thus far.

Thanks! Looks like some good info for me to read. And, it looks like I've got a few miles before I need to be too concerned. Hopefully, by then, I'll be on to a new Vette (with the engine behind me?)

Haha, that would be nice. If you can afford a Vette, the cost for walnut blasting shouldn't be an issue.

Catch cans don't eliminate the issue all together. You still get some blowback from the cylinder. My previous company researched this issue thoroughly, and using GM hardware.
Removing the intake manifolds isn't an easy fix for some.
True, it won't eliminate entirely the issue. However, it will reduce it and stretch out the time "needed" to clean the valves.

If some can't remove the intake manifolds, that's rough for them. If they can't remove the intakes, they likely aren't that big of a car guy to the point where they would understand if they're losing power and would move on to another car by the point that they would lose power.

Catch cans and deposits are a pretty heated issue on this forum. I think all a catch can is, is a cash grab. You'll get carbon buildup with or without a catch can on some engines. Some engines are calibrated darn near perfect to avoid the buildup issue all together or at least prolong it for a few 100k miles. People seem to think that just because they have a photo that their catch can has liquid in it, that it does anything. Whatever is found in your catch can is nothing more than normal dirtiness of an engine.
