What are our options for replacing the two piece driveshaft in our 2019-2020 GT350’s? More importantly, is this driveshaft in the GT350 the same as in the 2018+ Mustang GT’s?

QA1 and DSS both make carbon shafts. Don’t know of anyone making an aluminum one.

@madlag has the QA1 I believe. He can weigh in on the subject.

I run the QA1 on my car. No issues. Very high quality piece. I highly recommend.

Aside from weight, what other advantages did you notice when switching to the carbon fiber shaft? Just curious as I've never had one and thinking about getting one for my car.

Better throttle response

Hard to isolate the specific changes because it was a part of my first engine rebuild. But I can tell you drive train is more responsive than a stock one. It reacts more quickly when throttle. There's also less clunking.

My real desire for switching was safety. I'd rather have the CF one explode than a metal one snap and then try to work its way into the car.

I've put in a CF DS in my 12 Boss and wow what difference. Throttle response and quicker revs to the top. I'd hit my shift schedule which was just below redline much sooner. So the car actually moved out quicker too. Exiting corners...etc. I've long contemplated getting a QA1 for my R but I just don't have any clunk, play, or vibrations as is. So basically I feel like leaving it alone, as in staying stock. But if that didn't matter to me then it would be my first mod. I put a QA1 CF DS in my 16 Hellcat A8 as well. You can't beat the quality of QA1. Pricey. But worth every penny imo.

Not sure on weight. Never had my hands on an AL driveshaft and I think they're less common on this car than going CF.

Purely from a weight perspective, I doubt they're worth the cost difference. Like I said, big benefit is safety, IMHO.

QA1 for 2+ years of banging gears at around 1/3 the weight of OEM. no issues at all and still looks beautiful.
