I've read in a few threads the N-guage will display alky% on the device.

Do these cars have a sensor or something that detects this, is that how the flex fuel tunes adjust or is it by some other means?

Or have the people displaying this added an additional sensor?

Anyone know the PID/formula for this display if it does indeed exist so I can add it into torque if this is even possible.

It is calculated via the O2 sensor and fuel trims. There is no dedicated ethanol sensor. Basically when the car sees that you filled up (I think stock setting is 10% change in fuel level) it will start calculating the ethanol content based off the AFR and fuel trims.

So since flashing the flex tune an ethanol % guage has appeared in the torque app. Cool!

It is pretty neat. I use the app every day pretty much. It takes about 2 miles of driving to adapt to a significant change in ethanol. Vary speed and load, try to keep the engine above 2000 rpm even if at a cruise.

I love the app. It's great I also use it daily.

Any special PIDs you've added?? Only ones I've added are Knock and OAR so I can see if the wife fills up with regular instead of premium lol.

Do you notice the AFR measured and calculated is always way off though? That's the only reading I don't find to be accurate in this car.

What's the highest ethanol % you've seen from 93 pump? Here in Ontario the limit is supposedly 10%.

I need to make a trip to the states for some pizza and wings get some E85

For 93 I almost always see 9.8%. AFR seems ballpark correct for the indicated ethanol from what I see. My current tank is 48% E and it sits around 12:1 AFR, and low 10s when I have a full tank of 'E85' (78% E). On a tank of 93 it's around 14.1-14.2, so that's correct for E10.

What is the OAR pid and formula? I would like to add that. I have added knock.

The AFR display in car in the center guage display is always pretty close to what I expect but the torque AFR value seems to always be all over the place.

OAR only works on the ecoboosts. It never changes from 0 on the 5.0 so I'm assuming the 5.0 ecu doesnt have that function/tables or it's just disabled because it isn't needed.

So OAR does indeed work on the 5.0 flex tune. I stand corrected.

If you drive in drive mode at low rpms / high load the OAR will adjust itself pretty quickly.

Petro 94 mine is sitting at 9.8% ethanol / -0.34 OAR.

I would ideally like to see -1. Also it seems like the OAR will only readjust after a fill up of a few liters or more. Last fill up it set at -.08 so it's working it's way in the right direction.

Seems to operate the same as ethanol %. It adjusts after a fill up and then doesn't change until the next fill.

Which OBD II scanner are you using with the torque app.

I have a cheap "ELM 327" scanner/adapter that works for the iPhone with a different application. I think it will work for Torque, but double check the reviews.

I didn't think the GT used OAR?

I know in the Focus ST (presumably in Ecoboost mustang as well) the OAR is just a multiplier. You have a timing table that will add/remove timing based on the OAR. It basically is just a learned knock value that adjusts over time.
