I read the 5.0 has an advertised top speed of 164.....was wondering what gears were they using as I doubt there were referring to the 3.73's

I've hit 155-160 with my GT PP

I saw it hit 150, and was stilling pulling hard. Held it for a few more seconds before letting off.

Unless you use gps any top speed runs are pretty inaccurate. Speedos are way off once you get to really high speeds

I was using the speedo on my phone, but how infallible tower triangulation is, idk.

From my calculations, it had to be with 3.31 gears and near redline in 5th gear.

6900 RPM with MT82 in 5th gear and 3.31 diff =164 MPH.

6900 RPM with MT82 in 5th gear and 3.73 diff =146 MPH.

3.73 gears will hurt the top end on this car. 6th gear is too tall to pull beyond 146 MPH, which would only be 4500 RPM and is not where this motor makes enough HP to pull in 6th gear. IMO, 3.73 differential in the PP is meant for acceleration to 145 MPH. 5th gear is your top end gear in the MT82 regardless of what differential you have.

It still pulls past 145, but like you say, it falls hard when you enter sixth.

I have a dyno tune, and make ~50 horses over stock in the 2-4k rpm range. So, that's definitely helping.

Yep, with your added HP you might see over 145 in 6th after a long pull if you have 3.73 diff gears. But I'd bet in stock form it might not even pull to 145 with 3.31 gears unless you had 5 miles to try and get there.

Definitely doesn't feel like it. I drove an A6, 3.31, and it felt dreadfully slow.

I talked to the dealer Friday night, guy actually seemed to know what he was talking about, he tracks his mustangs also. He said the GTPP is limited to 155, but Car & Driver says 164.

Can the GTPP even get to 155 with a 3:73 and that tall 6th? Thinking not based on what I see here.

Will a tune remove the limiter? Thinking it doesn't matter based on other comments.

Can you retrofit the GTPP with a different rear end say with a 3:31?

Then again maybe it doesn't matter, not sure where you can go that fast even on a track.

It can, but it will take a little bit once you hit 6th.

A tuner can remove the limiter.

You can change out the gears, but I'm not sure they are available yet.

Best I did stock was 145, ended run for safety reasons. It was still pulling decently.

Tuned/exhaust surpassed 150 may have hit 155, did not look back at the app after.

Yes, gear swaps have been done.

Aren't you folks worried about the legal ramifications of getting caught doing 164 or 155 or 90+ even? I mean, I've definitely done my fair share of top end testing in days gone by, but damn, are you ready for that jail sentence? Just curious.

Those apps use GPS. Should be accurate.

C'mon man, don't get moral on us.

This is about the ability to do these speeds, it's not saying that we go out an endanger others just to do so.

Just take for granted that we ensure safety, and that some of us are actually running on the track. It'll help you sleep easier.
