Hey all,

I’m about to order a built short block for my 2015 Mustang GT and was wondering what else you guys would recommend/suggest to complete the build? I’m shooting for ~1250whp whenever I convert to twin turbo, just prepping to the motor to handle it for the longer run.

I have billet OPG and crank sprocket from my current motor. Can these be transferred to the new motor? What all can be transferred safely from the stock motor? I’m going to stick with stock cams

Is there a certain head gasket that is needed for a short block with a CNC O-Ring? Wondering this if I were to go up to their next tier.

What other ARP fasteners for peace of mind?

On my to-do list so far:
FFRE Stage 3 10:1 Non-DI short block (received)
ARP head studs (received)
Cometic MLS head gaskets (received)
PAC-1234X valve springs (shipped)
FP Hi-Performance cam drive kit (ordered)
MMR secondary tensioner bracket (received)
Kinetik Motorsport ARP Crank Saver Stud (received)
ATI Super Damper (ordered)
GT350 oil pan & pump kit (ordered)

ARP cam tower bolts. Your OPG's and crank sprocket will transfer. I would change your cam phasers while you are at it because, why not? Grab a new water pump too, because, again, why not? You are that deep, just do it.

Cool okay, I’ll add those to my list. It’s these little things I’m afraid I’ll miss or have to order after the fact.

I'm still debating if the TKM 5.2 Predator is "enough" or just over build and go for a sleeved Coyote.

That I can't tell you. I have a built stock block, stock bore, gen 3, with Manley 2618 pistons, H-Tuff Rods, ARP hardware all over the place. Stock cams and ported heads. I am going to shoot for a hero pull of 1000whp, but I plan to back it down to run no more than 900whp. That's with a Gen5 3.0 liter Whipple on ethanol, obviously. I've seen guys run 1200whp on stock bottom end with turbos, but I don't know how long you could expect it to live like that realistically. Turbos are less stressful, but that's a lot of pressure.

I've been running in the 750-800whp range for maybe 6 years now on the Gen3 2.9L Whipple. What I was hoping whenever I do convert to twin turbo, it would be roughly the same whp on wastegate.... then turn up boost for events (half way up for funny business on the streets).

I'd be happy for a 1200-1250whp in race form but not if that's the edge of the limits.

I was at about 780whp on 93 for only about a month and I broke a ringland on #6 piston. That was due to me being stupid and doing far too many back to back pulls on a 100 degree day. The big issue there is ring gap. Make sure you gap the rings for boost no matter which block you go with. Running ethanol will help with everything else.

Thanks guys, I’ll go ahead and order these and get started on this build.

Probably will need some random gaskets/seals here and there but I believe this is the bulk of misc additional components I should get.

If i have time and will to, I’ll continue this thread on over to the Member Journals/Projects section.

I do not have a dog in this fight, but between TKM and FFRE, I would go with FFRE. They have their program 100% dialed in with the coyote builds.

Yeah I ended up ordering FFRE Stage 3 block the other day. Hopefully can get it put in and buttoned up before the end of the year.

I don't think you could go wrong with TKM either though. Their program seems pretty legit. These two builders were at the top of my list to go for.

That's awesome!

No doubt, both shops make badass motors.
