That is not what I am saying at all. What type of roads do you think people are using CC on?? It is not on a race track or mountain passes (well, maybe depending on the pass). So you don't see any advantage in picking up the pace to get by a semi, or at the start of a hill (as in before CC would sense any need to add throttle), or to make the car feel more stable on a curve? Feel free to disregard that last one if you don't enjoy the corners more than you do the straights; you just won't get it.
To drone along on CC is to throw away some of the fun and part of the challenge of trying to drive better all by yourself.

Yes I will zip by a semi when I come upon one.
I am not using cruise up in the mountains, any road I am using CC on has plenty of straights (often for miles) and does not have turns that warrant making the car feel more stable - think long sweeping turns.
If you'd rather not use CC, fine, I don't really care. The point being is that when on the highway, generally speaking, one is going at fairly constant speed. Yes there are times (as you point out) where it makes good sense to accelerate.
So, yes, it was asinine to suggest that because one goes a constant speed on a highway, that one is better off driving a camry.
