Well in addition to getting the new block plate next week, AC took a shitter on a 95 degree day....nothing but hot air coming out. No odd noises or anything. Did sense a slight burnt smell though. Not sure if it’s related but probably is. I really like driving this car but this in addition to new engine, is getting tiresome. Having to take time off work to go back and forth for all this stuff eats into my time. Luckily I’m 10 miles from the dealer, but if I move to the Northwoods on Mn the closet will be an hour drive away.

Sorry to hear you too had AC problem. Many have reported this it seems. Often it's evap or compressor failure. Mine was a leak in line.

I hope it’s something simple. I was out doing errands and on the highway I was ok. Getting through DC in traffic I was a sweaty mess when I got home.

The evaporator core went on my 16 twice. Very frustrating and not for the faint of heart. They literally have to pull the entire inside of the car out to get to it. Good luck.

does anyone know why the evap fails or any of these other components?

i hate these threads. sorry to hear this @DCShelby . everytime i see an A/C thread, i look up quotes online for Ford Protect ESP. gonna do it eventually bc of this issue. keep us posted, hope it's a more simple fix than pulling the entire dash out.
Has anyone had this repair done outside of warranty, or have any idea of the range cost depending on whether it’s a compressor or evaporator coil?

Curious of this too as my car just went out of the 3-year warranty. So far AC has been fine on it - probably jinx myself writing this. Most things you figure if it gets through the initial year of use it will probably be good to go for a long time. Doesn't seem to be the case with the AC units though.

Mine did the same thing a month ago. Turned out to be just a connector on the refrigerant line that somehow "fell off"? Dealer said it's possible when the FL dealer replaced the motor in Feb it wasn't connected properly.

Unfortunately welcome to the club. AC systems in Fords, specifically Focus, F150, and Mustang have been hot doo doo since 2013 and 2015 when the F150 and Mustang were redesigned.

Yes maybe when new engine was put in a connector was not properly attached. I’ll get it all fixed, but if another item pops up after that, this thing is gone. I’ll go back to a 911.

What about a C8 instead?

Well if I fit in it, perhaps. I could not fit in the C7. The 911 is actually fine for tall people. A 997.2 GTS4 with Aero and six speed would be my choice, but that’s a unicorn.

Dang man, I've replaced my evaporator too, it sucks.
