My 2016 GT Premium started blowing warm air with the AC on. Also, the compressor whined when AC was on. I took it in to the Ford dealer and they found the Outlet Line from the AC compressor was leaking at the O Ring connection. Most of my refrigerant leaked out. The Ford tech told me that if your refrigerant level is low all compressors will whine because the refrigerant acts as the lubricant. After the tech evacuated and recharged my system, the compressor quieted down and worked great with no more whine.

The bottom line is if your refrigerant has leaked out, don't replace your compressor unless it is still whining after the refrigerant is full in the system.

I recharged my system last summer when it wouldn't blow cold and now it blows cold but whines (2017 GT, 32k mi) when the compressor is engaged.

This might be my issue. Is there a guide for correct recharge steps? (oil/refrigerant amount) I know that the pressures you are supposed to reach are ambient air-dependent as well.
